Those drinks won't give you energy compared to vegetables, beans, nuts, eggs, or orange juice. The people claiming 8 hours of energy off a high fructose drink might have some serious problems because the effects should be worn off within 3 hours unless you have internal organ damage. On that note, I bet if you drink those things religiously your muscle mass is probably really low and weak for it's size....it's the caffeine addiction.

Herbalist, I'm looking at a can of XS right now and don't see ginko biloba on the ingredient list, what flavor are you referring to? I also don't agree that a 13 year old is drinking energy drinks daily, however, one can of XS has between 8 and 16 calories and probably isn't contributing to the child's weight problem.

I am 33 I buy and consume energy drinks daily usually 2 for 3 dollars every day. It is a must have to get through the day but when my binge is over from drinking them daily for months on end I quit and go through very rough withdrawls like sleeping over 16 hours a day not wanting to get up just dragging ass. Restless leg syndome really bad and my testicals feel like they have a vise squeezing them constantlly wow and they are legal why? its like a Schedule 1 drug In my opinion.

I think the biggest problem is with kids. I have a friend who not only gives her overweight kid XS (in hopes that he'll get outside and exercise, which he doesn't) but also put him on diet pills! He's only 13 years old. He had a complete break down the other night. She's lucky he didn't have a heart attack! The parents defend the XS drinks, but what they are missing is that their kid does absolutely nothing all day long. He plays computer games, watches TV, and sleeps! They took him off of the diet pills, but continue with the drinks. He's way too young to be consuming Panax Ginseng and Ginko Biloba. The only herbs listed that won't adversely affect anyone is echinacea root and astragalus root. Those are immune boosters. However, too much echinacea on a daily basis creates an immunity to it and will eventually do absolutely nothing for the consumer.

I agree with NOT YOURS... make a smoothie, eat raw fruits and veges. Balance out with proteins and carbs. Did you know that you can eat as many fruits and veges as you want, all day long, get the energy you need from their natural sugars and lose weight? You can do this and never have a blood sugar crash. Fascinating, isn't it?!

I definitely do not notice any difference when I drink Red Bull for example. In fact, I would say "it's a bunch of bull" so to speak. Many times, I have had a Red Bull and gone to sleep easily to take a nap. Coffee works a little bit better as do several cups of tea, but even two Red Bulls in a row have zero effect on me.

I think the young generation likes energy drinks because you dont have to be 18 to purchase. And it resembles alcohol so people can drink them ANYWHERE!
I think they need to require a person to be atleast 18 to buy them since they are so bad for your health.

I tried energy drinks and loved them. It takes like alcohol but without the alcohol so its a cool hip drink. Bad news is it increases your heart rate which then I had trouble breathing so I am no longer going to drink energy drinks. They are very harmful to your body not to mention expensive and have too many calories.
