Katrina May Cut Into Caffeine Supply

So I got this message in my inbox this morning, that Katrina may cut into caffeine supplies. My first thought was, “holy crap, is there NOTHING this hurricane can’t destroy?” My other thought was, “why is there so much caffeine in New Orleans that it would make a major dent in supplies?”

It turns out that that the Procter & Gamble Co. is from New Orleans, and they are the makers of Folgers and Millstone coffees.

The company has made an initial damage assessment at its four coffee facilities in the New Orleans area and said it “hopes to restore some operations at its coffee production soon.” More than 100 people are already working at its Folgers plant there, repairing equipment, restoring phone lines and ensuring a water-tight facility, it said.

If you drink these coffees, it might be time to try out some new stuff at your local cafe.
