Quite Possibly the Most Powerful Energy Drink Ever
Seriously, the drink may mean the end of this blog. In the “before time,” conversations generally went a little something like this:
So, what’s a good energy drink in terms of strength?
Well there’s a lot to choose from, based on caffeine content, taurine, ginseng, green tea extracts…
Well… what if I’m just interested in caffeine content?
Well just go to The Caffeine Database and look around!
The point, probably lost, is that there’s a lot of drinks, in varying sizes and caffeine contents, that also contain a lot of other things.
So then this new thing came out. It’s called VPX Redline Fat Burner. Amazon is lacking a little information, so here’s a little more:
Check out this freaky scientific VPX breakthrough: RED LINE®: is the only matrix ever developed to shred fat through the shivering response in the body. By shivering the body burns huge amounts of stored bodyfat for energy in an effort to keep the body warm. That’s not all! In addition to shivering, you’ll also be sweating up a thermogenic storm. The combined mechanisms of these two processes results in unparalleled fat loss!
What fun. Now, it’s pretty obvious looking at the ingredients that there’s caffeine. But get this: all of the aforementioned goodness, and the serving size is FOUR ml. About one TENTH of an ounce. The whole bottle has 240 ml, or 60 servings. Basically, a bottle of this, less than the size of a normal can of coke, WILL kill you. This is nothing to be playing around with.
I have friends. Not just normal friends, mind you. The kind of friends that voluntarily live on the streets. The kind of friends who, when drinking, race to forgetting. The kind of friends who take caffeine pills, ephedrine pills, and asprin.. all at once. One, in particular, drinks and consumes over a gram of caffeine daily, to stave off the headaches. So you know this is a serious review:
oh yeah, it’s definately 90% caffeine. the aftertaste is unmistakeable. the best part is that since i didn’t have my normal “dose” this morning, i probably won’t actually feel sh*t.
[10 minutes later]
the caffeine kicked in a lot faster than i expected. though in retrospect, it normally does when it’s in syrup form and tastes like ass.
feel oddly cold too. took me a minute to realize that while i still was warm, it was that ’shiver’ reflex kicking in. it’s a lot like when
you get a chill at the back of your neck, but somewhat continuous.
So what’s in this magical bottle of awesome? Caffeine, Green Tea, Yerba Mate, 5-HTP (5 hydroxy-1-tryptophan), cAMP, Yohimbe, Evodiamine, and Vinpocetine. And a few other things.
I know, I know, so here’s some more info:
cAMP is cyclic adenosine monophosphate. It supposedly “sparks many intercellular processes.” Whatever that means. Increased concentrations supposedly raise thyroid horomone levels, and help fat burning (would help explain why it’s in a fat-burning supplement).
Yohimbe is a bark extract from a tree in Africa. It’s considered a natural aphrodisiac, and sold here to treat imotency, dialate pupils, and stimulate fat loss. It can also mess with your blood pressure, so watch out.
Evodiamine is derived from some Chinese fruit called Evodia Rutaecarpa. Supposedly burns fat.
Vinpocetine is an alkaloid derived from some periwinkle plant. It is used in Europe, Japan, and Mexico to treat crebrovascular and cognitive disorders. Some people claims it elevates metabolism, but with no proof.
And the interesting one in the group: 5-HTP. I made sure to spell it out, so the smart ones in the group have already figured out the key: Tryptophan. It’s the same stuff in turkey that makes you sleepy, and there’s scientific evidence of it. The 5-HTP compound is sometimes used to treat mild depression since, somehow, it can increase serotonin levels. It can also affect appetite, which may be part of why they put it in here. The other part? When you’re jacking up a drink with this much caffeine, you’re going to get jitters and “scatterbrain.” This may actually cut the disconnected thoughts out and allow you to think normally, but still give you the energy effects of caffeine. Awesome.
Apparently you can buy this stuff at places like Super Supplements, GNC, and even some 7-11s. The concentrate isn’t something you should take a guzzle of. Or even a large sip. If you search on the internet, you can see some people who took the recommended dose, and started blacking out towards the end of a workout. Blacking out. 4 mililiters. Damn. There’s also a ready-to-drink version (I would bet that’s the one at 7-11), and half a bottle is all that’s recommended. Pay attention to it. People are comparing the 1/2 bottle to a full hit of ephedra. Unless you’ve done that before and know the effect it has on your body, don’t go doing anything macho with this one. Go do that with redbull.
Just for poignant measure, look at this review:
I recently purchased the liquid form of redline at a local 7 Eleven store.
It was the first time I have ever drank an energy drink that had such an affect. With in a few minutes , I started to sweat and shake. Being familiar with the effects of narcotics, I must say the feeling felt a lot like cocaine feels.
The most disturbing trait is that my penis shriveled up like I just got out of the icy cold ocean. I can’t help but think that this product will be taken off the market. The effects are too strong for some minors and may not be safe for people on certain medication which are yet to be known.
And this one:
I tried Redline today while heading to work. I am a huge fan of RedBull & Diet Rockstar. I am 33 years old & in excellent condition.
Having not read the warning label I drank the whole bottle within 5 minutes. Within 10 minutes I was blacking out behind the wheel & shaking uncontrollably. I pulled over at a gas station — I was having difficulty in swallowing and could not stand, breathe or see straight.
I could not even walk for the convulsions. A bystander called the paramedics. Needless to say – my blood pressure was sky high & I thought I was on my way out.
I feel this drink is extremely dangerous & should not be on the market. There needs to be a very visible warning label not to drink the whole bottle for beginners. It has been 5 hours now & I still do not feel normal.
This drink could seriously kill someone if not informed.
I am sorry but I will never drink this again nor recommend it to fellow peers.

Redline is the best for us caffiene addicts who need a LOT of caffiene for the right effect.
However, one night I drank 2 redlines very quickly and had an anxiety attack. Didn’t need medical attention and I am obviously okay. I think if you are going to drink it than just take it slow.
Another thing- I noticed these comments are from 3 years ago… well now you have to be 18 to buy redline and they do not sell them at many places (I found redline at GNC). Also they have atleast 8 different warnings on them.
ps- i was referring to the comments on the first page from 2005, i haven’t read the newer ones yet so my apologies
i use redline everyday.i drink 1/2 bottles at a time. i love it, i hope it stays on the market forever. if a perosn will simply read? one will see the manufacturer recommends 1/2 bottle the first time!!! like many many many other products, if a person is responsible enough to follow directions and not abuse the product it will work for the majority of the population! i have nothing but good things to say about this product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m seeing a lot of exaggerated responses to this stuff. “Don’t drink it! It could really kill you!” Geez… Just calm down. If you’re hypersensitive to caffeine, then you have to be as dumb as sh** to try this stuff in the first place. But if your body can handle caffeine properly like a normal body should, then you’ll be fine if you drink a bottle of this stuff. It gives a nice boost of energy…sometimes. Sometimes, it gives you an upset stomach, so make sure you’ve got some food in your belly.
it all depends on your tolerance for this type of stuff. all i know is i’ve been up all night vomitting and freezing ass cold! i drank this drink yesterday at 1:30pm. i still feel like i’m talking 100 mph and high as a kite. i’m such a lightweight. typically energy drinks don’t do anything for me at all. i think i’m done with this crap, it shouldn’t even be on the market. seriously. i don’t need to go to the hospital or anything, but good god, when does this shit wear off?
So… What you’re telling me is that I shouldn’t have drank a whole Redline RTD with a Monster chaser? Hm…
Redline: 21st century crack
The mere fact that I am writing this review is a testament to how much energy I have. My typical caffeine intake consists of 2 cups coffee– I only drink energy drinks on occasion– but nothing compares to this drink. Hearing all the hype I used precaution by only drinking 4 ounces, avoiding an empty stomach, etc, yet the jittery feeling stays with you for a multitude of hours after you drink it. Even after five hours I still find myself lacking concentration, feeling uncomfortably tense and erratically shaking/tapping my leg and fingers as if I’m about to give a presentation. There is absolutely no way this will stay on the market for very long, so if you’re into this kind of thing I would begin stocking up on your supply. All-and-all it’s not a bad tasting drink nor is the affects unmanageable. It’s just weird to get this much kick from four ounces. As I said, it’s liquid crack, destined to be banned and likely to be laughed about centuries from now when they figure out the full effects of this stuff—the way we now laugh about early nineteenth century coca-cola.

I really think that the effects of this drink are highly dependent on the individual, possibly in an unpredictable way. Also, I’m not so sure the aforementioned adverse reactions solely have to do with the caffeine content.
I have a relatively high caffeine tolerance and had been drinking a minimum of 500 mg/day for a long time while studying for my board exams. I ran across Redline in a GNC and decided to give it a shot. I did read the huge, obvious warning label on it, but being a 265 lb bodybuilder with a high caffeine tolerance, I ignored the warning.
Within 5-10 minutes, I could feel my heart pounding and noticed a bit of a tremor. Then my ears started to get hot, and I got a little worried. I ran to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, and my face was beet red. My vision got a little blurry, and I had feelings of impending doom. I got pretty scared, but all of these symptoms did slowly go away over the next hour or so.
Needless to say, I will never use that drink again or recommend it to people. I really don’t understand why they include twice as much drink in a bottle than is supposedly recommended.
You guys are crazy i drink 2 RedBull every week and others energy drink and nothing happens just good stuff happens.OK!OK!OK! one time i tried to drink to large can of redbull and i fely pain on my chest but i still drink with no problem you guys are suppost to drink red bull wthout hot liquid because red bull contain carbonated water. Some people buy Red Bull because they like the taste STUPED!!!! i buy because i collect energy drink can i like the taste and because i workout.I hope you guys agree with me.!!!
Redline is my favorite pre-workout aid. Most energy drinks are largely indistinguishable in effect from coffee. This isn’t one of those. This is a very potent stimulant. Effective stimulant products like these are invaluable for pushing you to killer workouts but you have to be very careful of abusing them. Redline is a far stronger stimulant than caffeine alone. The effect is so dramatic that I would recommend taking only a sip at first, then gradually increasing to determine your tolerance. I would also recommend not taking it more than once a day. I settled on about a third of a can once a day before my workout, and that is plenty.
I drank 2 redlines today for the first time.
I’ve been shaking and feel really tired, but a few hours later I don’t feel as tired.
Nothing has really happened. I’m pretty much fine, after reading other peoples encounters, it’s like they’re all light weights and I’m barely 16 and I feel alright. Weird
I sorry guys but what’s all the HYPE yes I got some energy no more than the typical energy drink and this is after drinking a redline Xtreme… I am 5″2 and 105 lbs and there are days that I have a quadruple venti iced coffee from Starbucks just to start my day, I guess I just have a high tolerance to caffeene…and to the person who did a lot of drugs in the past Meth, Coke Hey me too and there is no comparison what so ever (Thank Goddness) so I do not see what all the fuss is about although I am way over 18 I do not think this is for young kids…
Ok, what basically happens with this drink is : If you take it, and DO NOTHING ACTIVE, you will start having those dangerous affects due to the fact that your body isn’t doing anything to naturally build a sweat and get blood pumping.
However after you drink it, and start an activity of some sort, then you wont feel anything except for an excessive amount of sweat. (Depending the length of the activity)
It CAN help, but only if you help it help you.
I’ve never taken the drink, nor have any plans on doing so. But based on what I read from multiple sources, it only has the bad affects if you don’t engage yourself in any physical activity after taking the drink.
I DO NOT recommend driving if you have taken this drink before getting behind the wheel, unless you have already done something like a workout and witnessed and felt the difference and the good affects of the drink.
Again, i haven’t taken it, just my two cents on what the drink does.
So a couple days ago I had a helluva load of stuff to do including a 29 page report for college, so I bought two redlines, which I have taken before, and downed both of them in a time-frame of 30 minutes. I couldn’t really focus much on my report and sort of fell into convulsions while doing it, and the fell into micro sleeps during my report only to wake back up a few seconds later. Then I began to hallucinate a bit and it was weird. And I went to bed at 4AM and still couldn’t shut my eyes. But bottom line that was my bad for taking so much. If your a newbie to the stuff, just take half a can. It’s true energy when you need it, just keep that in mind and make your own decision. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a kick in the butt, because it will do just that. Great for running as well. Hope this helped you NOT take 2 cans at once.
I am living proof that redline rtd (not the concentrate) cannot kill you if taken correctly. I first started drinking these before going in to work. I was a hostess at Outback steakhouse. This energy drink worked miracles! I was in a super good mood and was on top of my job like no other. To clarify some other things, I’m only 17 and I weighed like 115 pounds…It sure didn’t kill me! Just don’t drink it on an empty stomach and if it’s your first time trying redline rtd drink half of the can like the warning label says. You can work your way to a whole can, though unfortunately. If you’re a girl, try redline princess, its amazing! I sure hope they don’t take this stuff off of the market just because a few little weenies can’t handle it. If a 5′5″ 17-year-old girl weighing 115 pounds can handle it, I’m pretty sure anyone over the age of like 16 can as well.
people are idiots. read the label on this drink. it says everywhere not to drink the whole can. follow the instructions, and this drink will work for you. It’s meant to be consumed before a workout, not just driving to work or whatever. it would be a shame if this was taken off the market because some people can’t read or see the many warning labels placed on the carton, bag, and bottle itself.
[...] me never want to consume caffeine again–especially in high quantities like those found in Redline, Spike Shooter and the [...]
I love the Red line drinks. After drink a whole bottle i sometimes get the feeling of being on ecstasy. I’ve never had the concentrate but am about to get a bottle of it.
Absolutely would recommend just be careful
blimy! i’ve had a full can of this in one day and albeit i’m under eighteen i had a buzz that you simply never experience from any other energy drinks! i’ve never had any of the illegal drugs these blokes talk about but this stuff is blimy stronger than a kangaroo in a boxing match!i had food in my stomach and i actually was buzzing like a bumblebee almost crazy!!!!it was awesome! i actually felt better with this drink then i do with the highly carbonated energy drinks! however all bodies react differently so be warned!! i do not reccomend it for everyone! still the most fun buzz i have ever had!

So I’ve drank the entire bottle and I feel nothing. This was a great dissapointment to what I thought was going to be a wonderful buzz.
