Quite Possibly the Most Powerful Energy Drink Ever
Seriously, the drink may mean the end of this blog. In the “before time,” conversations generally went a little something like this:
So, what’s a good energy drink in terms of strength?
Well there’s a lot to choose from, based on caffeine content, taurine, ginseng, green tea extracts…
Well… what if I’m just interested in caffeine content?
Well just go to The Caffeine Database and look around!
The point, probably lost, is that there’s a lot of drinks, in varying sizes and caffeine contents, that also contain a lot of other things.
So then this new thing came out. It’s called VPX Redline Fat Burner. Amazon is lacking a little information, so here’s a little more:
Check out this freaky scientific VPX breakthrough: RED LINEĀ®: is the only matrix ever developed to shred fat through the shivering response in the body. By shivering the body burns huge amounts of stored bodyfat for energy in an effort to keep the body warm. That’s not all! In addition to shivering, you’ll also be sweating up a thermogenic storm. The combined mechanisms of these two processes results in unparalleled fat loss!
What fun. Now, it’s pretty obvious looking at the ingredients that there’s caffeine. But get this: all of the aforementioned goodness, and the serving size is FOUR ml. About one TENTH of an ounce. The whole bottle has 240 ml, or 60 servings. Basically, a bottle of this, less than the size of a normal can of coke, WILL kill you. This is nothing to be playing around with.
I have friends. Not just normal friends, mind you. The kind of friends that voluntarily live on the streets. The kind of friends who, when drinking, race to forgetting. The kind of friends who take caffeine pills, ephedrine pills, and asprin.. all at once. One, in particular, drinks and consumes over a gram of caffeine daily, to stave off the headaches. So you know this is a serious review:
oh yeah, it’s definately 90% caffeine. the aftertaste is unmistakeable. the best part is that since i didn’t have my normal “dose” this morning, i probably won’t actually feel sh*t.
[10 minutes later]
the caffeine kicked in a lot faster than i expected. though in retrospect, it normally does when it’s in syrup form and tastes like ass.
feel oddly cold too. took me a minute to realize that while i still was warm, it was that ’shiver’ reflex kicking in. it’s a lot like when
you get a chill at the back of your neck, but somewhat continuous.
So what’s in this magical bottle of awesome? Caffeine, Green Tea, Yerba Mate, 5-HTP (5 hydroxy-1-tryptophan), cAMP, Yohimbe, Evodiamine, and Vinpocetine. And a few other things.
I know, I know, so here’s some more info:
cAMP is cyclic adenosine monophosphate. It supposedly “sparks many intercellular processes.” Whatever that means. Increased concentrations supposedly raise thyroid horomone levels, and help fat burning (would help explain why it’s in a fat-burning supplement).
Yohimbe is a bark extract from a tree in Africa. It’s considered a natural aphrodisiac, and sold here to treat imotency, dialate pupils, and stimulate fat loss. It can also mess with your blood pressure, so watch out.
Evodiamine is derived from some Chinese fruit called Evodia Rutaecarpa. Supposedly burns fat.
Vinpocetine is an alkaloid derived from some periwinkle plant. It is used in Europe, Japan, and Mexico to treat crebrovascular and cognitive disorders. Some people claims it elevates metabolism, but with no proof.
And the interesting one in the group: 5-HTP. I made sure to spell it out, so the smart ones in the group have already figured out the key: Tryptophan. It’s the same stuff in turkey that makes you sleepy, and there’s scientific evidence of it. The 5-HTP compound is sometimes used to treat mild depression since, somehow, it can increase serotonin levels. It can also affect appetite, which may be part of why they put it in here. The other part? When you’re jacking up a drink with this much caffeine, you’re going to get jitters and “scatterbrain.” This may actually cut the disconnected thoughts out and allow you to think normally, but still give you the energy effects of caffeine. Awesome.
Apparently you can buy this stuff at places like Super Supplements, GNC, and even some 7-11s. The concentrate isn’t something you should take a guzzle of. Or even a large sip. If you search on the internet, you can see some people who took the recommended dose, and started blacking out towards the end of a workout. Blacking out. 4 mililiters. Damn. There’s also a ready-to-drink version (I would bet that’s the one at 7-11), and half a bottle is all that’s recommended. Pay attention to it. People are comparing the 1/2 bottle to a full hit of ephedra. Unless you’ve done that before and know the effect it has on your body, don’t go doing anything macho with this one. Go do that with redbull.
Just for poignant measure, look at this review:
I recently purchased the liquid form of redline at a local 7 Eleven store.
It was the first time I have ever drank an energy drink that had such an affect. With in a few minutes , I started to sweat and shake. Being familiar with the effects of narcotics, I must say the feeling felt a lot like cocaine feels.
The most disturbing trait is that my penis shriveled up like I just got out of the icy cold ocean. I can’t help but think that this product will be taken off the market. The effects are too strong for some minors and may not be safe for people on certain medication which are yet to be known.
And this one:
I tried Redline today while heading to work. I am a huge fan of RedBull & Diet Rockstar. I am 33 years old & in excellent condition.
Having not read the warning label I drank the whole bottle within 5 minutes. Within 10 minutes I was blacking out behind the wheel & shaking uncontrollably. I pulled over at a gas station — I was having difficulty in swallowing and could not stand, breathe or see straight.
I could not even walk for the convulsions. A bystander called the paramedics. Needless to say – my blood pressure was sky high & I thought I was on my way out.
I feel this drink is extremely dangerous & should not be on the market. There needs to be a very visible warning label not to drink the whole bottle for beginners. It has been 5 hours now & I still do not feel normal.
This drink could seriously kill someone if not informed.
I am sorry but I will never drink this again nor recommend it to fellow peers.

i am a 16 yr old and i recently bought a redline rtd. i am a fan of the increased awareness during draining sports activities such as skating and surfing(from energy drinks). it is true, the taste is somewhat unsatisfactory but the rushed feeling you get makes u feel like a 100 bucks. i had heard about this knarly drink from a friend and decided to read the label to get a little more insight and i was surprised by the recomended age for purchase. i drank a little more than 1 serving size(three fourths of a can) and i did get the afformentioned shaking feeling but it made me feel as though i could do more land more and just plain be better at wat i was doing. i drank it at about 2 in the afternoon and it is now 2 o clock in the morning and i feel like going to skate right now.this drink may be powerful but if dipshits merely read the label and drink the reccommended amount the effect is far better than any energy drink ive ever had>THIS ENERGY DRINK IS A MUST IF HIGH PERFORMANCE IS NEEDED IN A HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORT
I love Red Line energy drink!! I pour half a bottle in with some OJ and vanilla protein powder. It’s my morning wake up meal. I don’t think it should be banned just because some people have bad reactions. Shellfish, peanuts and wheat products make people sick, they’re not banned. like with ephedra, people abused it, (even though it did have health benefits)now it’s off the market. If you are a fat, out of shape slob, you shouldn’t take ephedra, it’s hard on your heart. The same thing with this drink. It’s great for those of us that are in shape, but not for those that aren’t (in shape)
Did you even read the label? The serving is not 4ml, it’s 4oz. Stop trying to scare people with your ‘freaky’ scientific breakthrough (which, by the way, is how it’s described on the product’s website). This stuff is a joke. It doesn’t make you shiver and it doesn’t make you blackout. Pure bullshit.
Actually, it works for energy. But any fat burner is really bad for your health. I as energetic, talking fast, ect.
But my friend DID blackout, it might not affect some people by how you feel or react, but it does harm your health. BE CAREFUL
May God be with everyone who drinks this.
OK NOW!!! i am a huge fan of MONSTER energy drinks(mainly cuz of their involvement with motocross)but i wanted to try something that REALLY woke me up…i myself like the drink, but me in my infinate wisdom was tryin to get other people to try it, “for The Rush” and it messed my co worker up… It really does effect different people in different TO THE DUMBASS FRED QUIMBY who thinks this drink is just another typical energy drink YOU R AN IDIOT!!!!!!!!
In response to fred quimby.. the 4 ml serving size is for the concentrate, not the RTD form.
Anywho.. I myself just purchased a 4 pack of the rtd and It does seem to work better than most other energy drinks i’ve tried. Kinda like taking a few big swigs out of a bottle of skyrocket. No adverse reactions yet.. about to hit the second bottle of the day
BTW I think this stuff tastes great. two bottles down so far.. wonder if I can do all four… My daily intake is well over a gram and a half of caffeine daily if these tables are correct. (On top of that I’ve been taking the redline pills for months.) So I can see why nothing happened to me. The fact that I can taste the caffeine in this however, leads me to believe that someone who isn’t horribly dependant on caffeine, should probably only drink half a bottle at a time.
Oh yeah, I’m a 6′7 220 lb. caucasian male. Two redlines since I got off work at 4:30 this morning, (just finished the second one about ten minutes ago) And I took my usual three pill dose about two hours ago. I feel great. Gonna go get ready to go back to work at 4 this afternoon.. at least it’s only for a couple hours… didn’t feel like sleeping and wasting my morning. Besides I’m out of flurazepam so I probably wouldn’t have been able to sleep anyway.. I sleep anywhere from 2 to 10 hours.. unfortunately it’s usually 2… I’m glad this stuff is on the market or I’d be an even bigger asshole to everyone than I am normally.
YES – the warning label should be more prevalent but to read post after post of complaints from people who drank the WHOLE bottle on the first go ’round or drank it on an empty stomach is just sickening.
What a “victim” culture this country has devolved into. Please people, take responsibility for yourselve.
I bought my first bottle yesterday drank 1/4 and felt a little bit of a pick me up so I would imagine when I get around to drinking the half RECOMMENDED it will give me more of a jolt.
alright, im 17 years old and i recently had a redline. now i wasnt allowed to have a drink on the bus to grad night so i drank the whole can in about 2 minutes. felt fine. it kept me awake for about 10 hours but other than that nothing. no shaking no dizzyness nothing. great drink
I take the pills and like them way better…not as spikey. Although when I dont take them i can easily sleep for 12 hours or more.
The other day I had a Redline RTD, the one in the blue can. My brother told me to chug the whole thing, and even though I read the bottle I decided what the hell, and did. (Little background info- I havent had a soda/caffeinated drink in a little over 4 years.) Anyways, shortly after I felt fine, didnt notice any reactions or changes..I was getting disappointed in it, especially since I had double the recommended dose.
About an hour later, I WAS WIRED. Thankfully I wasnt driving, because I saw some billboard and started laughing uncontrollably, for about TEN minutes. I wasnt sure why I thought it was so funny, but whatever. After a while it kinda wore down somewhat, I had more than enough energy but nothing other than a little bit of the shakes.
A few days later I decided I wanted to try again, so I bought a 4-pack. Went to work at about 11, right before I got there I drank a full bottle, had another bottle with me incase I needed another pick-up before I was off. Again took about an hour to start working, but IT WAS GREAT. I decided it wasnt going to be smart to drink the other, so I gave it to two friends and they each had half. Theyre both used to caffeine. One of them says it didnt do anything except mess with his stomach, the other was OFF THE WALLS, and it was only a half can. I had my bottle at 11pm, and at 6am I was STILL feeling the rush, shaking, uncontrollable laughter, fast breathing(normal heart rate though). It was 6, so I wanted to keep it going, so I had 2 redbulls back to back(had nothing better near me), and it was back. By 10am I was coming down from it, had another redbull and by 1pm I wanted to die. The crash was terrible, then again my body had only hadnt had that type of caffeine in a single day for a long time. Anwyays, my opinion is that you NEED tor ead the label, use it with caution if youre not used to high doses of caffeine, it does seem to affect people in a lot of different ways. I recommend it though, it was fun and I bought two more 4-packs(one of the red-colored extreme, and one of the normal blue ones). Have fun and dont fool around with this stuff too much I can see how it could potentially hurt someone.
A while back, I drank 2 reblines, and I felt nothing but a slight rush and my hands shook a little. Like previously stated, people react differently to the same products. Know your own limits, know your own body. Don’t blame the company for something you already know about. If you drink a normal energy drink (redbull, monster, etc.) and you feel nothing, then a redline is for you.
I’m a 17 year old girl weighing in at about 105, and in two hours i drank half a bottle of redline, the grape flavor from gnc. I decided to try it after being a long devoted fan to redbull and coffee. I did not black out nor did i shake violently. I felt awake and satisfied as well as perfectly fine. I followed all of the directions and ate prior to usage.
If you think about it, if it has 910 m/g of caffine in it, thats right at 10 20oz bottles of mountain dew in ONE shot… lol.
shibby
I am a huge fan of energy drinks, and drink red bull allmost every-day. I found that one can of redline is about the same as three cans of red bull. If you’r not used to energy drinks please BE CAREFULL with this stuff.
After reading the reviews on here I decided to head out to the local GNC and pick up a 4-pack. I bought the grape flavor and took a small sip last night and it wasn’t too bad of a taste at all… I plan on trying half a can here in a little bit after I get some food in me, and later tonight or tomorrow I will try to update with my reaction. I’ve tried plenty of drinks before, and I don’t notice the effects as much as everyone else around me who tell me I talk non-stop and laugh uncontrollably at everything, so we’ll see…
But I was wondering, what’s the caffeine difference between the Redline and the Redline Extreme?
oK, JUST SENT ONE OF MY GIRLS TO GO GET ME A REDLINE! SHE SAID SHE HATED IT… FELT REALLY CRACKED OUT, AND IT WOULDN’T GO AWAY. i HAVE TO GIVE IT A TRY. i AM MAJORLY HUNG OVER RIGHT NOW, AND NEED TO FINISH MY SHIFT WITHOUT NODDING OUT. HERE i GO
45MIN LATER. i’M HOOKED! lOVE IT!!!!!!!!! i FEEL GREAT. nO SHAKES
i AM GOING OUT TO BUY MORE
this stuff is about as potent as methamphetamine
im an average 17 year old male working part time at a local gym. i have tried this stuff and its not bad, however, if your not smart you can be in serious trouble. the smaller you are the less you can drink, simple as that. i also agree with all of you who say it affects different people differently. test the waters before you slam a whole bottle. use your head.

Ummm….I drank a full bottle of redline and took an afternoon nap…different folks, different strokes…we all react differently…there were zero side effects…i had a moderate feeling of being alert…like u get from drinking maybe a little diet coke or something
