Caffeine Labeling: Traffic Lights

Taiwan recently took an interesting step in labelling products containing caffeine. Apaprently the Bureau of Food Sanitation decided that “excess caffeine could cause anxiety, bad moods and trouble at work” (hey that’s all the fun of it). (via IOL and others).

  • A red label means more than 200mg of caffeine.
  • A yellow label indicates 100-200mg.
  • Green is less than 100mg.

There are 173 Starbucks stores in Taiwan – and all of them must issue “caffeine alert” fliers. Apparently the Grande Brewed Coffe contains 260mgs of caffeine. Due to our recent research of Starbucks caffeine – we peg the average caffeine content as somewhat higher.

YOUR DOUBLESHOT EXPRESSO & CREAM CONTAINS (6.5 FL OZ.)130MG CAFFEINE, HOW DOES THAT COMPARE TO A REGULAR CAFFEINATED CUP OF COFFEE, IE; FOLGERS, MAXWELL HOUSE, ETC…
