7-Eleven Refuses to Sell Cocaine Energy Drink

cocaine2.jpgNo surprises here - 7-Eleven management has told all franchises to remove Cocaine Energy Drink from the shelves.

“Our merchandising team believes the product’s name promotes an image which we didn’t want to be associated with,” said Margaret Chabris, a spokeswoman for 7-Eleven. (USA Today)

If 7-Eleven has taken this step then it is likely many other convenience stores will follow suit.

Will the drink become a collectors item? It’s already hot property on eBay with cans going for $3 or $4.

So 7-11 has no problem selling tobacco the most addictive drug in the world, and alcohol one of the few drugs that can harm nearly every organ in the body with abuse, as well as the only drug known to ever have death become a known side-effect of withdrawal….yet 7-11 has pulled a caffeinated drink simply because the moniker resembles an illicit drug who’s main harm comes from the fact it is available on the black market. All 7-11’s are neighborhood drug dealers, another example how the war on some drugs can be taken to ridiculous extremes.

cn October 29th, 2006 8:23 pm

Huh? Cocaine isn’t harmful? I tend to agree that tobacco and alcohol are the most common causes of preventable death in this country but there’s nothing quite as impressive as a cocaine-induced myocardial infarction in an otherwise healthy twentysomething. Check your facts…

…but I agree with your general point.

ChieF2 October 30th, 2006 2:49 pm

ben wasn’t saying at all that cocaine isn’t harmful, he was saying that an energy drink isn’t really harmful, just because it has the word cocaine on the can. but alcohol and tobacco, which 7-11 also sells, is wayy more harmful than an energy drink.; so cn, check YOUR facts…

sinister November 1st, 2006 11:32 am

go cocaine. i love cocaine. bring it back to us!!! suckers

T-Bone November 2nd, 2006 11:23 am

7-11 isn’t making any politcal point people!!!! The just don’t want to be associated with a product called “Cocaine.” They probably got a complaint about the product at HQ, and decided to eliminate one product from a saturated market in order to keep customers happy.

Phil November 3rd, 2006 4:06 am

Tobacco isn’t a drug. The nicotine in tobacco products is what causes the addiction.

Phil November 3rd, 2006 4:10 am

I wouldn’t sell a product callled ‘Cocaine’ either, it’s just trashy.

Bentley November 3rd, 2006 3:08 pm

They took it off shelves because parents complained to 7-11 about the name

Alanna November 5th, 2006 2:22 pm

Wow, a bunch of people going crazy over a name. That is childish. I agree with Ben 100% on what he said but it is up to 711 what they sell and not us. Everyone arguing isnt gonna make them sell it. Yes, I agree that they should sell it becaue they do sell beer which can kill but like I said, it is up to 711.

Michelle November 9th, 2006 3:20 pm

I agree with Ben also, but if anyone is acting childish its the people who complained about this drink. I am sure the parents or whoever may have complained has drank drinks such as: sex on the beach, buttery nipples of which are acoholic. So whats the big deal about an energy drink named Cocain? I think it does make a statement but to me it says that it is an energy that gives you a ton of well energy…I don’t see a problem with it and personally I am an energy drinkaholic so I would have brought them a ton of business. Oh well its their loss.. I just want to know if there are any other places that sell this drink so I can give it a try. And that brings up another issue, how can they knock something they haven’t even tried. Who knows it might be the best freakin energy drink out there. Anywho thats my thoughts about it. But serisously if anyone knows which store that sells this drink please let me know.

michael November 9th, 2006 7:47 pm

michelle got good news where
to find cocain at, if you know where
a mom-and-pop convenience and liquor
store is, thats where its at OK girl!!!!!!

awesome-o November 10th, 2006 9:13 am

wtf is worng with every body????????????????????

kohl'hon (KOLE-uhn) November 10th, 2006 11:01 pm

I’m not really sure which is stupider….. naming an energy drink after cocain ( which was risky, it would either skyrocket publicity or get b anned from every store), the parents who complained, 711 for taking off this well selling product, or president bush. He said quote: ” I can’t imagine someone like osama bin laden understandin the joys of hannakah” And before you start yelling, yes I got side tracked and yes I probably spelled Hannakah wrong.

oh…. and pistachios, pistachios are stupid…..FLAVIN!

John November 12th, 2006 9:06 am

nads December 3rd, 2006 12:40 pm

xbeautifulxdisasterx December 14th, 2006 4:21 pm

Well to find the drink isn’t easy, BUT look at http://www.drinkcocaine.com for more info. you can contact them and they can help you. Also they are suppose to have online sales around the 16th.

HOBOBOB December 14th, 2006 6:26 pm

I don’t see what the deal is?, im only 15 and I recognize that this isn’t something to drink massive amounts of, and I don’t plan on going out and using cocaine because this is good…

and what about XTZ drinks?, what do u think that stands for? mabye ecstasy might just might be the drug!?!?!?, wheres the protesters there?

I get the bad end of the deal though, since the only gas station that has it sells it for too much (its like 3 bucks a can, but I think he gets it off ebay)

mike December 19th, 2006 6:18 pm

hobo bob. you are the exact person to make sense here. youre a teen. and ur not an idiot, you know wat X is. why do people protest idiotic things like this?? its a friggin’ energy drink. honestly, if you want to protest things that are drugs in hiding (not a friggin’ energy drink!!!), then why dont you protest anti depressents. i wish people knew that anti depressents, all brands, all forms, is weakened ecstasy!! that is how people get addicted, because its the exact same thing as ecstasy, except they bond a few ions to it like hydrocloride, and say its so good for you. its not good for you, but its not bad for you either. it IS bad however when you abuse it. many people dont know that X was invented as an antidepresent, but they then realized it was too strong. hmmmmmmm……wasnt that the same way heroin was invented by the germans?? o yea, it was. maybe we should take more care in investigating things and protesting.

hold on, ill act like a protester now:
o no!! thers an energy drink called cocaine!! this is such a detrimental thing to our society!
ahh!
now im mad and depressed, ill be back to the protest rally after i run home and get my X, i mean prozac, that stuff is still legal right? has anyone found out that the pharm. companies are selling legal ecstasy yet?

mike December 19th, 2006 6:29 pm

well, i started ranting there. but anyways, ok people stfu!! anyone who complains about this drink is therfore showing their ignorance. because they think that when a teen sees the name cocaine on a drink and they like it they are goin to go get some rocks and smoke em out. ignorant protesters are retarted. now why does 7 11 think that they can make a political point, who honestly looks at 7-11 in admiration? no one thats who. stop trying to be so upstanding and realize that you are not a great company. you sell beer and smokes/chew to minors, is that an image you want to be associated with?
and if you want to stop marketing things that lead people towards drugs, stop selling snuff.
but yea, to anyone who wants to know where to get it, a CITGO up by me carries it. i drink it sometimes. its the same as drinking 3.5 redbulls. if you like caffine drinks, get some. this stuff burns when it goes down too.

josh January 24th, 2007 5:58 am

Dear Mike, you are gravely misinformed about antidepressants. “Weakened ecstasy” Shit.

Joie January 31st, 2007 9:52 am

I like cocaine !

GOGOPOWERRANGERS January 31st, 2007 9:54 am

go to http://www.google.com and search death by caffine, there is a meter there that will show u how much to drink to kill yourself. Im 285 lbs. and i gotta drink 69 to kill myself.

if gotten to 32 before i passed out.

:) YAY ME!

tatum February 20th, 2007 5:48 pm

wow. if people don’t like it then its their problem and they can shove it up their ass!!!!!!!

Autumn March 31st, 2007 3:58 pm

Seriously..,this is stupid an it tastes like cough syrup anyways

videoCWK April 20th, 2007 12:40 pm

This is especially bad for me, because there are no non-chain convenience stores near me that I could convince to get it.

thebeast April 30th, 2007 5:01 pm

why do people care that some lame energy drink isnt being sold at 7-11. if ur that desperate for energy why dont you get some real cocaine or a full nights sleep.

Travis May 9th, 2007 6:21 am

Wow, you people are retarded. It’s not the NAME they are really concerned with it’s the INGREDIENTS that can cause HEART DEISEASE. It’s funny how people get all bent out of shape for the drink because they think it’s the name people are so concerned with. Turn on the TV to watch the news instead of Run’s House or I Love New York.

Andrea May 18th, 2007 9:36 pm

does anyone know where i can still get this drink? like does any stores still sell it?

chan June 22nd, 2007 12:15 pm

cocaine energy drink? cocaine itself? sure can get you all you with distinct price, you need not to worry about how you get it without being apprehend. just leave that, some are smart some are smarter.

get me now
chasaki at mail. md

cocaine drink January 28th, 2008 9:07 am

well it was a dumb product anyways :/ and banned

Ckris May 19th, 2008 4:18 pm

7-11 is stupid for banning Cocaine energy drinks. I agree w/ Ben at the top. Oh and something is bugging me,.. You few commenting on how retarded the drink itself is… Why are you even on the site? But then again i’m all 4 free speech so whatever.

Exodus September 17th, 2008 2:23 pm

Why is everyone making such a big deal on something based soley on name? If 7-11’s really cared that much about the name of things, they wouldn’t cell ‘candy cigarettes’. Things like that don’t nessicarily mean that kids will smoke when they get older, or that they’ll think actual cigarettes are candy.
By this redicilious movement based on name alone, we are without a great product (a friggin’ energy drink). First and foremost, the only reason why 7-11 cares is due to the name. Why? Seriously… why should 7-11 care when they sell: Liquor, beer, cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, and their own unique garbage flavored fast food (Taquitos anyone?). They don’t give 2 shits about anyone but themselves… and I say they should sell it; I mean why not? They sell everything else that extremely horrible for you… so why not sell a f***ing energy drink because the name is “offensive”. Why not get rid of Coca-Cola because it has Coca in it? Do they not remember Coca-Cola used to have cocaine in it?

My rant here is done… 7-11 sucks to the furthest degree. A**holes.

debs November 24th, 2008 9:51 am

Selling Liquor, beer, ciggies, isnt illegal, selling cocaine is and having the word cocaine on a drink is endoursing something which is illegal. It doesn’t surprise me that teens always say “wots the big deal about the name cocaine….its just an energy drink” but that immature comment is to be expected as they are not yet adults with children and havent got the concept of feeling responsible for things or people. Although they should by know. Im 38 and have 2 boys and I asked them what do they think of the drinks name and they thought it was very irresponsible to name a drink cocaine. Why would you want to glamourise a drink that is by the way harmful to your health by calling it something that could potentially kill you and kids who are impressionable (aged between 8 and upwards) seeing this name on a can would think it cool maybe by endoursing the name cocaine. Many kids dont have any standards these days and my son said that they wouldn’t drink it incase any little kids saw them and thought they were drinking a drink with cocaine in. They are head strong and not easily led so thats cool in my book but to say you dont care about this drink called cocaine is so sad to hear. They even have the brains not to drink those drinks as they are aware they are bad for their health. Please see it at every angle as this is surely a common sense thing, if its an energy drink then just call it that. Can anyone tell me why wouldn’t they just call it that. When your out on the streets kids please try and be responsible for how you act and how you look to other kids who are an impressionable age as we are trying to make this a better world for them not a worse one. Just remember if you end up having kids then its gonna be a much worser place for them than it is now. I prob will get some silly feedback about my thoughts but thats to be expected i suppose.
