Cocaine Energy Drink Banned in Australia

cocaine2.jpgThe energy drink called cocaine will not be going on sale in Australia who are refusing to import it. Apart from the most unfortunate name of the drink, Australia has restrictions on caffeine levels in drinks - currently 145mg per liter (33.8 fl. oz).

In the US, Cocaine is getting its fair share of controversy with many stores refusing the stock it. There have been protests in some communities with protestors claiming the drink glorifies drug abuse.

See the Australian news item here (video).

that drink kicks… i wish i knew i place where i could get it…

Donan October 12th, 2006 10:13 am

Graham it’s just an energy drink. Did you know, that when Coca-Cola was first made, it acually had cocaine in it. Hence COCA-Cola. Pepsi also had cocaine. This drink isn’t glorifing it.

Donan October 12th, 2006 10:15 am

I mean come on why would you advertise o drug internationally? The name is just to give you buzz just thinking about it. Peolpe wont go do cocaine just because that’s the name of an energy drink.

ScarJarvis October 16th, 2006 12:15 pm

YOOOO, this shit gets me amped. strain me another line

SAM October 19th, 2006 10:59 am

umm……..thats gay its just a name jeeze lay off of the name!!!!!!!!!!!

ryan October 31st, 2006 10:09 am

i like energy drinks and all im a big fan of them but i also think naming a drink “cocaine” may be going to far

this is not good because i found and article in a newspaper yesterday that said something to do with the fact that too many teens in america were consuming energy drinks

as i said earlier i like these kind of drinks but naming a drink after a drug can be bad because i don’t want this to start into a trend because if that happens a energy drink ban in certain states could happen (50-50 chance possibly). my opinion basically here is “take cocaine of the shelves before its too late”.

australian government a bunch of soft cocks

SteveJWR November 19th, 2006 11:01 pm

Is it not an individual’s choice. Surely we are able to make up our own minds. Choice is a good thing. Personally I would like to try the product and make up my own mind. After all I could just eat coffee beans for my caffine fix. Cocaine Drink to Australia.

Brad January 3rd, 2007 5:19 pm

You guys are idiots. This is so typical of America, your responses. Firstly, Australia got off bad. Secondly, if you mindless ‘tards don’t have enoguh sense to tell the difference between an energy drink and a drug, well then you have serious issues. Seriously, it’s a DRINK. The name has absolutely nothing to do with the drug except that they give the same feeling (roughly). If teens are stupid enough to try a drug (an expensive one, too) just because they drink an energy drink by the same name then that’s is totally their problem. They’re mindless idiots and they deserve to be cocain addicys anyway.

wera March 12th, 2007 5:18 am

American parents are just so damn bored they got to protest everything. I’m sure there is something breaking someones freedom, in the USA, about trying to ban this drink. The only thing that should be allowed is stores can choose to sell it or not.

Parents these days just need something to blame bad parenting on. If they were there more for their kids, they would have less concerns that video games would cause them to kill people or getting ideas that smoking is cool or do a drug because a product they like is named after one.

Parents these days just need to start parenting more. Usually both parents work and never do anything with their kids. Then they use video games as a babysitter and then complain about violence, sex, drugs etc. They let their kids out of control and spoil them and what do they expect?

We’ve got a new energy drink coming in, Crave … less caffeeine as it’s powdered and you dilute it as much as you want.

Hmmmmm cocaine is a bit … addictive?

What do you crave?

Just to note there is something wrong with that article because 145mg is not the legal limit in australia otherwise rockstar wouldnt be on the shelves because it has 151mg of caffeine in it

And to not not only did coke have cocaine in it when it first came out(in the 1800’s) so did most things back in those time’s and it was beccause of the plant which they made it from and it was only in there because the didnt have the quipment to take it out but now they do.

Many Energy drinks are full of crap, and they are typically unhealthy. But the fact is the growth and demand is increasing at nearly 50% per annum.

Americans alone drink 70 million cans a day!!

There are drinks out there that provide incredible natural energy kicks and are Healthy… For example. http://www.actenergyfluid.com.

It is growing at an incredible rate, uses all natural ingredients. I find it frustrating that energy drinks are all categorized the same way.

anon October 2nd, 2008 9:43 pm

thats actually incorrect the drink will be going on sale in Australia in November, however it will have a reduced 80mg of caffine per 250ml so the solution DRINK TWO CANS WOO YEAH BURN DOWN THIS CRSPPY GOVMENT AND DRINK TWO.

wogla November 12th, 2008 9:25 am

Max December 9th, 2008 6:12 am

Anyone heard of “Crackheads”?
They are chocolate covered espresso beans - 37g boxes contain 120mg or 600mg of caffeine!
