Enviga: The Calorie Burning Energy Drink

enviga.jpgCoca-cola are all set to put Enviga on the shelves (from November onwards). They boldly claim that if you drink 3 cans of Enviga a day, you will burn an extra 60-100 calories in that day.

Enviga contains the optimum blend of green tea extracts (EGCG), caffeine and naturally active plant micronutrients designed to work with your body to increase calorie burning, thus creating a negative calorie effect.

The green tea extract called EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) apparently increases metabolism. Enviga will have 90mg of EGCG in each serving.

There are three flavors – green tea, berry and peach.

Enviga will be sold in 12-ounce cans – suggested retail price for will be $1.29 – $1.49 (single can). (via coca-cola). Enviga is not the only “weight loss” drink to hit the market (i.e. celsius or Fuze Slenderize) – but is sure to have the biggest marketing budget.

UPDATE:
Enviga contains 100mg of caffeine per 12oz can, and 5 calories per can. See more here.

NOTE: You can buy Enviga in bulk from EnergyThis.

I drank Enviga 3 times a day, had a proper diet, exercised daily and lost 30 lbs. in 30 days. I never had the jitters or crashed like other energy drinks packed with sugar and caffeine. I recommend this for those willing to eat right and exercise. Remember, nothing changes if nothing changes. Good luck !!!

According the web sites about Aspartame I found following. Example Wikipedia
Aspartame has been the subject of controversy regarding its safety and the circumstances of its approval by the American FDA and European FSA. Some studies have also recommended further investigation into possible connections between aspartame and negative effects such as headaches, brain tumors, brain lesions, and lymphoma.[15][16][17] These findings, combined with possible conflicts of interest involving CEO Donald Rumsfeld in the approval process, have engendered vocal achtivism regarding the possible risks of aspartame.[18][19]

Why Coca Cola don’t use xylitol as a sweetener, which has more health benefits than illnesses. Xylitol is quite popular in Europe, because it protects your teeth and is better for health altogether than any other sugar substitute.

Celsius really knocks the pants off Envgia in nearly every field. Carbonated green tea? No thanks! I think this comparison sums it up nicely: http://www.ilovecelsius.com/6-reasons-why-celsius-is-better-than-enviga/

You can also get coupons there for ordering a case of Celsius on the cheap!

Enviga taste no where as good a Celsius does. What I have experience from Enviga is a flat carbonated flavor which reminded me how a soda taste when it goes flat and if that wasn’t enough insult to the taste buds it ended with a bitter taste. It was awful.

Nice going Coca Cola but I will not be trading my Celsius for your flat tasting junk.

I just tried the berry Enviga. I’m a huge fan of green tea, and not a big soda drinker, but I found this to be a perfectly refreshing drink. I agree with thrash – it tastes great, gives me my caffeine fix, and has only 5 calories – who cares if it actually burns calories? I’ll definitely be buying this!

amster March 9th, 2007 11:31 am

I tried the Enviga – it’s good but it has a bitter aftertaste.

thrash November 27th, 2006 1:22 pm

I don’t care about any of this. I happened by a sampling booth at the mall and got a chance to try the berry flavored and it was pretty friggin good.

As far as I’m concerned anything that tastes good, has only 5 calories and contains caffeine is better than sex.

All I wanna know is..does this crap really work? If I have to by 3 cans to get some kind of reaction out of my body, it better freakin work.

ryan October 31st, 2006 10:25 am

im not sure about green tea or peach flavor but i would definately consider trying the berry flavor.

They recommend drinking 3 cans per day to have any effect. Notice the 5 calories per can. Depending on your body type, the drink will max out at burning 20 calories from your body. Stand up and then sit down in your chair 20 times and you won’t need to drink this.

Loser October 18th, 2006 9:50 pm

Yea…its called your body burns calories to digest everything you ingest…so 3 cans would take about 100calories of energy for the body to process. Just like watching TV for an hour burns over 100calories.

*skeptical*

I dunno….Seems like there’s GOT to be a catch….nothing can be THIS good….:/….

Autumn October 16th, 2006 7:30 am

Okay. This is deffanatly one of the coolest things ever invented! DUDE. I cant wait to try this!!!

Calabar Gal October 13th, 2006 9:57 am

*Sigh* Another excuse for Cola Cola to get their hands on my hard earned money. If it does all the wonders they say it’ll do, then I’ll take a years supply!! I’m that lazy, I am when it comes to exercising. *Sigh*

Donan October 12th, 2006 10:07 am

But Brandon, Enviga has the calorie-burning quality, which makes all the difference.:)

Chris October 12th, 2006 7:02 am

This honestly seems to me to be an attempt by Coca-Cola to knock Celsius out of the market as fast as possible. I mean that little company is gaining popularity fast with what is apparently a fairly healthy soft drink that can also burn calories. If you’re a major company like Coca-Cola and you see this little nobody getting national news coverage you can either dismiss them as a low-threat fad or you can use a relatively small bit of your own funds to blow them out of the water by cornering their market with your own product. It seems likely that we know which one is happening.

Caffeine Fiend October 11th, 2006 5:46 pm

I’m still waiting to get the details about calories and caffeine levels. Many of these so called Green Tea drinks contain more sugar than anything else.

Brandon October 11th, 2006 3:27 pm

Or you could just drink, you know. . . green tea. A single cup of a decent-quality green tea has almost as much egcg as a can of this stuff, has a little caffeine, and costs less than a tenth of Enviga.
