I am a very dedicated Christian. I am also a very dedicated caffeine consumer. I am a third shifter, 10:30 pm to 7:00 am, Eastern time. I would say to Dr.Nuke, you have some good ideals, but your *energy* is improperly directed. Plenty of wholesome things go on in the wee hours of the morning; hundreds of thousands of people are making ends meet. Families are being supported and budgets are being met. That’s my “late-night activity” you couldn’t think of. Just because a drink is used in sinful scenarios doesn’t make it sinful.

I can point out plenty of passages in the book of Proverbs that speak against being lazy, listless, and sleeping too LATE, but if you’ll give me chapter and verse about not sleeping enough?

Personally, caffeine is my alcohol substitute. I am neither dependant on it, nor am I faithless for drinking it. God did not intend for us to be awake all night, so since this is my livelihood I do not believe I am offending God by consuming caffinated beverages.

Perhaps you should have more faith in God to rid you of your caffeine addiction, Dr.Nuke. And perhaps you’ll take a good look in the mirror before you start preaching at others.

1. You are a hypocrite. How can you say you are a caffeine addict as well as a Christian, and then condemn the use of caffeine in a Christian life? Go ahead and call that pot black, Mr. Kettle.

2. Please tell me where to find the passage in the Bible that says all people should sleep at night. I’m not a theologian. Perhaps you know something i don’t.

3. Why are you convinced that only bad things are going on at night and early morning hours? Picture this…A young man is forced to work the night shift at a factory to support his wife and young daughter. He is not used to the schedule. On his way to work, he stops by a convenience store to purchase an energy drink to help him stay focused and alert during his shift. Is this man A) Forsaken for going against God’s supposed will (imbibing in caffeine and being awake and night) or B) Praised by God for putting his long-term health on the line to do what is right for his family’s welfare?

4. This is also about this “…the Bible is adamant about sleeping at night” garbage. There is a huge gray area here. What is too late by the Bible’s standards? What is too early?

I feel a great need to speak with you about these topics. Please reply.

10 calories? Some sort of artificial sweetner at work. Since when has MSG added to foods, etc. been a good thing?

Caffeine has no place in the Christian life when you think about it, save to stave off the withdrawl that follows its usage.
You should rely on God for your energy. He’ll never give you a task you can’t complete, so you don’t need caffeine.

Caffeine is mostly used by the Faithless and for debauchery. It’s known potential side effects include: irritablility, jitteriness, racing heart, insomnia, and so on. It is often used at parties so that people can stay up later and later, despite the fact that the Bible is adamant about sleeping at night.

I can think of a lot of un-wholesome things that go on, but not much of anything good comes from late-night activity.

Irritability doesn’t sound like a Fruit of the Spirit. In fact, that sounds like it will make Love, Joy, Peace, Hopefulness, and Self-Control a *lot* harder.

What are they thinking? Their site looks the biz, lots of encouragement to live the Christian life, but I’m begining to wonder about their motives.
