Caffeinated Soaps

shower-shock.jpgShowershock is a soap infused with caffeine:

Scented with peppermint oil and infused with caffeine anhydrous, each bar of Shower shock contains approximately 12 servings/showers per 4 ounce bar with 200 milligrams of caffeine per serving. No, we’re not kidding and no you don’t eat it. The caffeine is absorbed through the skin…

Does it actually work? The only reports we’ve heard are anecdotal – people claiming they felt a “buzz” after using the soap – but maybe it’s just a placebo effect. You can buy it from ThinkGeek.

Caffeine is a apparently used as a marker for testing dermal applications of various compounds.

nopeitssoap.jpgIf ShowerShock doesn’t turn your wheels – you could always try Nope It’s Soap – a cappucino-scented piece of soap resembling a turd. Don’t stare too closely at the picture – you might lose your lunch.

Every “pile” of the soap is “hand-mixed and individually formed”.

I can almost hear their gleeful giggles as they churn out another piece of soap that looks just like a dog-turd (via Spluch).

“I didn’t have any, and I fell asleep in class. The next day I had it and I was wide awake for 8 hours in school with only 7 hours of sleep.”

That’s the definition of placebo effect …

The soap from thinkgeek DOES work. It’s not a buzz. You just feel more alert, for me it lasts about 8 hours which is plenty. It doesn’t give you the eye-opening feeling of an energy drink, you just slowly gain energy. It’s not the placebo effect for sure. I didn’t have any, and I fell asleep in class. The next day I had it and I was wide awake for 8 hours in school with only 7 hours of sleep. The body can’t produce that effect from just believing it’s going to work.
It’s worth every penny.

maybe it would work if you had like a cut on your leg or something, it would sting, but it might work. lol

i’ve purchased the showershock from thinkgeek, and i tried soaping up my entire body and letting it sit for a few minutes for purposes of science. no buzz, no effect at all (except that i smelled minty clean). I was unimpressed.

lol, i can’t believe you’ve been putting links to buy drinks from think geek on here and didn’t realize sooner this soap was on there.
