Coca Sek: The Real Cocaine Energy Drink?

coca-sek.jpgColumbia’s energy drink made from coca leaves is experiencing significant growth.

The first batch of 3,000 bottles of Coca-Sek — literally “Coca of the Sun” — was sold out in a rush. Another 40,000 bottles were sold in the next two months — mainly in the southern part of the country. (via Spiegel)

The drink has more calcium than a liter of milk, more iron than a plate full of spinach, and more phosphorous than a serving of fish. The only trouble is that it is made from the coca plant – the same plant that forms the basis of the drug Cocaine.

Also, the Coca Cola Company aren’t particularly amused with their naming rights being “violated”.

No word on whether the drink contains any caffeine.

an article from the miami herald yesterday says
“The logo on the can even mimicked the popular U.S. soft drink’s curvy script.”

coca cola guns down union organizers every year at their plants in colombia, and then terrorizes a tiny indian company. They both started as companies making drinks based on coca or coca derived products. thats like if an american pizza store tried to sue a pizzeria in italy for copyright infringement, or if an italian pasta company tried to force asians to stop making noodles.

coca leaves are a blessing from god. all of the claims of the health benifts are true. the only reason there could be trouble is the synthetic drug manufactures could lose money. look at all of the money the indiginus growers of coca have lost. It is time to globalize and recognize the cultures and traditions of the people of earth.

get your coca tea at Amazon!
They’re selling it through a loophole in federal law – you can only buy a certain amount per month and they have to keep track of your credit card to make sure nobody tries to buy a bunch under assumed names. The cocaine content is low enough (like .65%) that you would need to buy way, way more than Amazon.com would allow you in order to actually make a useful amount of cocaine.
you can also check http://www.mysteriousbolivia.blogspot.com for more data
So yeah. There’s that.
