Caffeine: A Cure for Baldness?

bald.jpgNew research in the International Journal of Dermatology concludes that caffeine is “a stimulator of human hair growth” (see journal abstract).

I knew all that caffeine was good for something. Unfortunately a few extra cups of coffee aren’t going to do much.

Scientists estimate up to 60 cups a day would be needed for significant amounts to reach follicles in the scalp (via Daily Mail)

Instead of drinking it – it seems you need to rub a caffeine-rich solution into the scalp.

To test the idea, Dr Fischer took scalp biopsies from 14 men in the early stages of hair loss.

He extracted hair follicles and placed them in test tubes with solutions containing different levels of caffeine.

The samples were left in the laboratory for up to eight days to monitor growth. At the end of the experiment, caffeine had boosted the length of the hairs by between 33 per cent and 40 per cent.

Bring on the caffeine!

What’s wrong with being bald? I shave my head with a razor quite frequently.

Dr nuke; some people dont like to admit that theyre aging or such.

lol i wonder what happens if ur kid accidentally eat your caffeine shampoo

I was just being ironic…

Heck with eating the shampoo…usuing those caffeinated soaps is probably enough. According to the information available, you might be able to caffeine suicide on those. There was about 1.2 grams or so of caffeine per bar, so it would only take….

We are lagging behind on so many serious health issues that range from lethal diseases to alopecia while we waste previous time and resources waging wars. How pathetic!!!
