Mother Energy Drink

Coca-cola is pouring $10 million (Australian dollars) into marketing a new energy drink called “Mother”. The drink will be released in Australia - where Red Bull and V hold a massive 94% of energy drink sales at convenience stores.

Coca-cola has had no luck in cracking the energy drink market down under (Lift Plus and Burn). They will be marketing Mother to young men as an all-natural drink with attitude; the branding on the cans is gothic and reminiscent of a tattoo. (via Sydney Morning Herald).

Interesting name - Mother. Imagine all the one liners they could come up with.

The original mother drink was special nothing done like it before.

This was a problem as people expected it to be like everything else they had tasted.
This drink has a acquired taste (I ALWAYS have it with ice) and it is fantastic drink that way, for me its a bit like a day time scotch and dry, that’s going to be more healthy they the alternative rubbish soft drinks I can have during the day.

While not politically correct the way I see it is that most people are too dumb to understand this drink that its more for the evolved type of human.
I can only hope that coke understand that this drink does have a good market it will just take a long time and it will work very nicely as a long term growth asset beverage.

The DUMBEST thing they can do is stop making it simply because there are people who don’t like it.
These people cant understand that not all soft drinks are for them. The key to expansion into new markets is to do things that haven’t been done before and wait for them to grow, the first time I had this drink I didn’t like it at all, but when I was with a friend and we had to stay up late, I had this with ice and fell in love with it, I never thought I would!

I think the best thing Coke can do is that there is understand that there is no harm in making the typical chemical garbage that the standard un-evolved person expects, while still making the natural energy drink. Most young kids don’t like beer or non sweet alcohol etc but on a long enough time line they do, that’s why the original mother is for people in their 20s and later, which is a longer term market as they are much slower to try new things.

Well, they did just that - they changed it and now it tastes very similar to RedBull and V. Sure, there were people who liked it before but if they can’t make money on it they can’t make it. Good riddance imo, the stuff tasted really bad, and I’m not an un-evolved person. I’d rather have a Coke than Mother v1.

they knowingly release a drink where people that are in a position of authority and responsibility drink it,in charge of machinery, hyped to the eyeballs!employees marginally escaping injuries and encouraging youths to induldge!you people should be taken before a court and tried as criminals!and yes it is going further! profits before people? the individuals choice? lets see !!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Thank god the old one is gone. I won’t ever try the new one because of how disgusting the old one was. Maybe if they offered a money back guarantee then I’d give it a go.

I don’t know how they ever considered making and marketing it in the first place. I remember seeing it at $1 for a 4 pack and it took days to get rid of it and there were probably only 50 packs there.

I think Coke just decided they were better then everyone and a fancy design and 10 million bucks of marketing would sell it…. sucked in Coke.

The new mother is the bomb!!! I LOVE IT… after disliking the old one i wasnt going to try it but after my friend tried it and love it i decided to try it and i fell in love!

its awesome as its comes with more inside the can rather than a little 250ml can and its cheap which is awesome!

I love the new mother

I loved the old mother, and so did a few of my friends, i too disliked it at first, but it grew on me and i loved it ever since, ive had over 200 bottles of the stuff, and many more cans, now they change it, i expected it to taste like cola, but it tastes exactly the same as red bull, like every damn energy drink out there, and theres alot less energy in the drink compared to the old one.

I loved the fact it was unique, and now its ruined. I’m really not happy about it.

My god what have you done!!!! this new Mother tastes so much like Red Bull, you have now made the makers of V the most unique instead of you. Bring back the old Mother. Once I’ve gotten through the old stock in my fridge it’s back to V. Sorry guys.

Coke are chasing their tails on this one, from one disaster to another. The first mother was awful tasting but the formula was ok it just had that over powering Panax (Korean Ginseng) taste. The new flavour however is too much like a soda-pop and mimics the leading brands too closely. It seems the team at CCA just cant come up with a winning formula and those commando guys from the advertising campaign should be storming their harbourside offices with some P.90’s as this is no doubt going to bring my portfolio in CCA under stress.
