Mother Energy Drink
Coca-cola is pouring $10 million (Australian dollars) into marketing a new energy drink called “Mother”. The drink will be released in Australia - where Red Bull and V hold a massive 94% of energy drink sales at convenience stores.
Coca-cola has had no luck in cracking the energy drink market down under (Lift Plus and Burn). They will be marketing Mother to young men as an all-natural drink with attitude; the branding on the cans is gothic and reminiscent of a tattoo. (via Sydney Morning Herald).
Interesting name - Mother. Imagine all the one liners they could come up with.

I just tried a can of this stuff and it was weird to say the least, the overpowering smell of ginger is a real turn off, but the taste had a weird almost spicy tang to it.
That was probably my first and last can, back the the old RB for me…….
I have been playing poker at crown during the aussie millions and they have Mother free in the fridges near the tables. Dont bother the stuff is crap and it makes you delusional.
I agree with you guys… Can looked cool, thought I’d try something different… tasted like ass. Didn’t know it was made by Coca Cola at the time, had another look at the can and saw their logo… What are you doing Coke? I know plenty of people that much preffered Lift Plus over this crap. I also tried the new Berry V over here… whilst it’s better than Mother, it’s still pretty bad… Back to Red Bull… More expensive, but much nicer.
I think it tastes great and beats the battery acid taste of red bull any day. I will never buy another red bull again.
OMG!!!!!!!!!! What the hell was coke thinking!!!!! This stuff is SOOOO FERAL!!!!! I totally agree with the ginger thing, almost tastes like ginger beer mixed with coke with some other odd flavouring!!!!!!!! NEVER BUY THIS DRINK!!!!!!!!!! STICK TO RED BULL!!!!!!!!!!
Wow!!!!! Was I in for a shock or what!!!!! I was like hey cool an energy drink by coke, this should by yum!!!!! Boy was I compleatly wrong!!!!!!! It tastes like ants!!!!!!!! You know that peppery/spicy taste when you accidently eat an ant!!!!!!
I actually like this Mother stuff a lot more than red bull. I also prefer V to Red Bull, but only slightly. I like ginger beer too 
The label shows that Mother is approx 75% apple and lemon juice (concentrate) which kinda makes me feel better about it than some of the other sugar water out there. Also, the label shows how much caffeine (same as Red Eye) but not how much guarana and the other bits. I want to know! Previously I was mainly a Red Eye afficinado, but now I will be buying this stuff too. Each to their own.
“Mother” came highly recommended by a work friend of mine. I checked BP, they had it there so get one.
I don’t mind the taste, I wouldn’t say it is DELICIOUS but its certainly not disgusting. I drink energy drinks for the effect they have anyway, not the taste.
The first time I tried it I got the best buzz from it, i was all jittery and my thoughts got faster and it was harder to moderate my actions. A few hours after drinking it I got a pretty bad energy low.
I have had another 4 since my first time and for me, my first one was the best in terms of its effects. When i drink it now, it’s effects are like any other energy drink.

This drink is the biggest mistake by coke ever. i bought it earlier n took 1 sip n threw it out, it smells like shit n tastes like barbecue sauce. never again! id pay 3 times as much 4 a V or RB anyday

I am a massive energy drinker and drink a lot of coffee also, the kick caught me by suprise… hit me way harder than the others… and no chemical aftertaste…

yeah Nathan i have found the same, mother gives you the best buzz out of all of the energy drinks,an tasts better then a berocca, to bad you can only have 2 a day, i give it the thumbs up
I LOVE IT! Tastes brilliant, and gives an energy kick 10x more than V and RedBull. Besides RedBull smells like the little urinal cakes in public toilets.
Damn this gives you a hit!!! This is my new energy drink from now on. Trading in the V.
Yer, well i like this stuff.. i saw it first on sale at woolworhs at warringah mall in new south wales.. and they had it on sale for marginally over 2 bucks, i gave it a try after taking great liking to v and red bull, and have had about 5 more since.. though i still like my v. but the tea extracts and juicy flavour are certainly beneficial here.. reminds me of singapore where i lived 2 years ago.
but overall.. its not disguisting and certainly makes you feel buzzy and alert…. but dont get reliant or your brain wont let you stop drinking them… my mates already hooked.

i have tried most of the drinks containing mainly of guarana and ginseng, even pure guarana powder mix. “mother” drink is 100% for me, as it tastes strong and has a good kick for my well-being and it blends with scotch/whisky. i knew it cost more than any other energy drink, but i will rate “mother” drink as no. 1.
i thought it was good but Not as good as “XS energy” drink ! because the XS energy drink almost contains no sugar or carbs and less than 16 calories,so you

This stuff tastes F****** AWFUL!!!! Seriously I was sitting around with a group of like 10 or so people on Australia day and we all tried it and no one liked it at all… YUCK!
yeah, i had my first can today at about 10:30am.. it tasted well bad and i couldn’t drink it all in one go but it kept me buzzing through all of my VCE classes and then kept me vivid through all my homework after a massive walk home. and i’m still very alive now. its about 8:30pm and i’m feeling awesome!

I think lift plus killed all these drinks even red bull, but red bull kills everything atm. its in everyclub almost and if its not redbull its rhino.
i got free mother drinks after the evanescence concert haha i had three after eachother and i am sooo awake it was only after i had the third i realised u were only supposed to have 2 haha they taste sooo weird
Guys, how good is mother…I have to admit the taste was not what I was expecting but I love it now. Friday night went clubbing and the bartender was mixing lethal motherf***ers (151 proof rum and mother)…goodnight redbull!
Ok People Here’s The Deal. This Mother Drink Is Off Tap I’m dead serious. Most Of You People who have tried it and didn’t like it probably didn’t drink enough of it to feel the overwhelming effect of the ingredients. When i first tried it i brought a bottle of it and i opened it and sipped it and it was poo but then i got a can just instead of my normal morning V and i must say it tastes better in the cold can than a bottle. i Suggest to go and buy 2 cans and drink 1 then another 45 mins later and you will feel more alert for the next 3 and a 1/2 hours, Great Drink And Also The TAste Is Accuatly QWuite Good Once You Have Drunk Over 5 Of Them

damn, i thought it was great. I’m hooked. V and Red Bull always grossed me out, badly.
It’s definitely not as artificial-tasting as all the other energy drinks. but yeah. it’s an acquired taste. if you like those shitty fake-tasting lollies, you’ll hate “Mother” … it tastes a bit more organic and reserved.
But goddam if the ad campaign isn’t awesome. Love the nymphomaniac characters. And the label is awesome.
Tastes pretty darn ok, not as good as red-eye platinum, which takes the cake over anything, but a billion times better than sugar-free red bull, and better than normal redbull etc. The usage of extracts rather than synthetic content makes you feel a bit less worried over cancer/other side effects, and gives a nice mellow kick; no bouncing-off-the-walls like coffee overdose or a bottle of red bull, just a clean alertness that doesn’t seem to crash suddenly. Next step, mother+berocca….

Oh my God, this drink changed my life! Well, no, seriously, but it certainly made me feel really good over the past three weeks that I’ve been drinking it! I don’t watch much tv so haven’t seen the ads for it but I gather from what I’ve read is that it’s marketing is aimed at guys 20 - 30 years old? I’m female, 35yrs and yes, a mother (amongst other things)! I think maybe the strategy should be changed to target tired, overworked, stressed out or unhappy females because that who needs this pep-me-up! Every female friend I’ve shared it with (ages 32 - 53) has liked it. We kind of think it reminds us of ginger ale. Yes, it tastes strange at first but knowing it’s mostly apple, makes it feel healthy… Mix it with vodka or gin on ice and you’ve got a cool sophisticated drink. (Its also great on it’s own over ice - or best of all… first thing in the morning straight out of the bottle, for breakfast.) I don’t feel hungry on it. I feel happy, high and energetic. (My kids appreciate the difference in me!) But I’ve learnt not to drink any too late in the afternoon or else it’s almost impossible to sleep! Dreams on it are vivid and entertaining but morning comes too quickly and I still feel the effects of it, kind of like when you stay awake too long and you get that tingly delirious feeling. Anyway, overall, I think its awesome, it works better for me than other energy drinks, (and coffee), which make me feel too edgy/shaky. This ‘Mother’ gives me is a good, crisp, clean, positive high which is manageable as I go about my daily activities.
I don’t get it. Does anyone actually reas the energy content on the side of the can? There’s I think 180kJ of energy per 100ml in this stuff. Good old regular full cream milk has 265kJ of energy per 100ml. What’s so damn special about this stuff? I guess it’s to do with how quickly your body absorbs it or something…I’m no nutrition expert or anything but I think it pays to be a little more skeptical about these sorts of drinks before decalring them as some sort of life changing phenomena. Just have a glass of milo damn it.
This is by far the worst tasting energy drink I’ve
ever tasted. The smell is somewhat similar to ginger
beer. The taste is… something completely different.
Gets the big thumbs down for me.
