Another chain coffee you might look into adding if you’ve got a a little time. Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. Seems like everyone around me has a DD cup grafted to their hands in the morning. Personally don’t like coffee, brewed tea is my route to caffeine death :)

Just asked the company.

Clearly all american products since caffine is not permitted in many soft drinks unless they are dark in colour.

where did you get the 7mg for penguin mints? every other source i’ve seen has said that they have about 15mg or that they are the equivalent of one cola, which would still be about 10-15. just wondering because there’s a big difference between 7 and 15 for each mint…

I work for starbucks coffee:
Heres what I know about caffeine.

A (grande)-medium size of our coffee which is 12oz’s. Dark blend is ~100mg of caffeine. And breakfast blend is ~150mg of caffeine.

1 Shot of espresso (1oz pershot) is ~15mg.

Espresso DOES NOT have more caffeine than brewed coffee. This reason for this is because “caffeine” is lost during the roasting process. So technically, the “darker” the roast, the less caffeine. People like darker coffees more-over for the taste. Lighter coffees are for breakfast, and for those who dont like a heavy dinner type of coffee.

Your calculations according to size-to-caffeine ar off. 3 venti (20oz)-large sizes of breakfast blend coffee, would be kissing the lethal dose of caffeine. (unless you have built-tolerance).

I would not survive 4 large breakfast blends, since I shake and can barely function im so wired after 2. ~148 cups of coffee would kill the store.

Mecca December 16th, 2005 3:35 pm

what about redline that fat burning energy drink??

Roman Gavrilov December 16th, 2005 5:50 pm

Just got off the phone with Sturbucks representative. Had a question regarding a content of caffeine in the Espresso Beans. The answer was 2mg a bean. Doesn’t seem to be true, Dark Hershey’s Kisses got 31. Isn’t it suspicious? Had 10 of those this morning, feels like 3 cups of espresso. It got to be more then 2mg! It just has to be!!!

You’ve missed out the Australian drink, Farmers Union Iced Coffe … http://www.farmersunion.com.au/fu_icedcoffee.aspx
and “Irn Bru”, the most popular Scottish soft drink.

Zephillia December 19th, 2005 10:29 pm

There is also Red Eye (Platinum, Gold, Passion, Extreme and Power) Passion is the best, But Platinum is the most readily available in Australia. Very cool list by the way.

Not sure if this was covered already, but Arizona Green Tea actually has 7.5mg per 8 ounces, which would be 15 for a 16 ounce drink, not 40 as you’ve stated. This info is off of their FAQ on their website.

Great site, great comments. As a test of my own will, and as a personal experiment, I quit caffeine (a 2-cup a day coffee habit) on December 20. After a few days of mild withdrawal headaches, I am now free of my only addiction. (I never did the other caffeinated products.) My energy level is constant throughout the day. No more spikes and lulls. And the quality of my sleep has improved!
