Diet Pepsi Max: With More Caffeine

diet-pepsi-max.jpgPepsiCo is launching a new drink in June: Diet Pepsi Max. The drink will have about one-third more caffeine than Diet Mountain Dew.

Diet Mountain Dew has 55mg caffeine per 12oz – so we’re talking around 75mg caffeine – which is very similar to Mountain Dew Amp.

The drink, Diet Pepsi Max is geared toward consumers ages 25 to 34 who like the buzz of drinks like PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew, but are starting to become more concerned about their weight, the spokesman said (from MSNBC).

Speaking of PepsiCo – anyone notice their new slogan – “More Happy”?

UPDATE: Official – amount of caffeine in Diet Pepsi Max is 46mg per 8oz. Thus a 12oz can contains 69mg.

Good drink. Tastes really good, glad to know it’s got a little pick me up.

Diet Mountain Dew IS actually my drink of choice.

For energy, however, nothing bets the 5 Hour Energy Drink found at 7-11s and Walgreens. Second to that is Starbucks DoubleShot can. Both perk me up more so than anything else.

First I want to state I don’t like the taste of Diet Pepsi, but I do like regular Pepsi, so I picked up my first bottle of Pepsi Max today not knowing what to expect. Regardless of what you may read, it doesn’t taste like regular Pepsi.. but it doesn’t taste like diet Pepsi either. It tastes a bit more like if you take a can of each and pour them together. It is better than diet Pepsi and I’d drink it again if I’m looking for a diet drink… in fact, if you DO like diet Pepsi I’d bet you’ll like this better.

I just bought the 20 oz. bottle of Pepsi Max today. It was new and diet…so I thought, what the heck! I LOVE IT! I hate diet pop but drink it for less calories. This is just what I needed, plus it gave me a boost just like coffee…..YES! It’s a winner!

Diet Pepsi Max could be a major hit for PepsiCo. It’s less extreme image will get a lot of older adults like office workers who won’t touch energy drinks to give it a try.

The taste is great, and the extra caffeine gave me a nice buzz that lasted all afternoon.

Just drank a dp max. I really like the taste. I’m not a pepsi drinker(coke or mt dew) and its not as sweet as regular or artifical sweetner tasting as of alot of diet soda. I will down a few to see if i get a caffeine buzz from the extra put in it.

[...] Jump to Comments I went to the grocery today, and I found a new product with eye catching labels- diet pepsi MAX, billed as an “invigorating cola”.  Trying to figure out what this is, since Pepsi is [...]

My softdrink of choice is Diet Pepsi (-including the lemon/lime/etc flavors) My friends who cannot stand diet drinks ask how I could possibly stand the taste of Diet Pepsi. I would point to the can and say because to me it tastes exactly as it states on the label: Crisp, Light, Refreshing.

When I saw Diet Pepsi Max on the shelf last week I had to try it. It’s rather good. I do like it. However I did notice that it’s not as ‘Crisp’ as regular Diet Pepsi.

I will definately be buying Diet Pepsi Max again, but it will not be replacing my light, crisp, refreshing Diet Pepsi.

Randall June 28th, 2007 9:37 am

I’ve had 2 twelve packs and is it just me or does any one else notice a flat taste?

John in Iowa June 28th, 2007 12:51 pm

I picked up a 12-pack today on a whim, not having a clue what I was getting. Like many of those whose comments are listed before, I am a Diet Pepsi drinker who likes both the taste and the low sugar aspect. I do not care for regular Pepsi (too sweet) and this tastes a lot like that to me. I miss my Diet Pepsi – I drink soda over other drinks because I like the taste of the fizz, and, like Randall, I think Diet Pepsi Max seems a little flat. This may become break room fodder for anyone who wants it.

Tony June 28th, 2007 2:42 pm

I picked up 2-12 packs of Diet Pepsi Max because they were out of Diet Pepsi. I was dissapointed, I was hopeing for more bite in the taste. But it’s too sweet, has no bite at all. I drink 4-10 cans of Diet Pepsi a day. I LOVE the taste of Diet Pepsi, it’s great and the taste is very consistent. I will not drink Diet Coke it’s too flat and the taste is very inconsistent.

amy June 29th, 2007 10:36 am

i agree with marli – this is not quite as “crisp” as a normal can of diet pepsi, but this is my first time trying it and i’m pretty much in love. it has the same not-too-sweet/not-too-artificial flavor that i always strive for (i mix my fountain sodas half diet/half regular) and i’m already noticing the little extra rush of caffeine. my only hope is that pepsico is actually able to keep this product available – it seems as though there have been more cola-related fads and subsequent flops than any other market.
my only qualm is with the design of the can (and for that matter the new pepsi design period): do i *have* to look as though i’m using my soda as a bling-y accessory?

doug mccroskey June 30th, 2007 9:54 pm

i have been drinking diet pepsi for 20 years, i by far love the taste of diet pepsi max and i never thought i would ever find a better taste than diet pepsi.. you have done you’re homework but now lets keep this one available, every time you come out with a new one it seems to disapear

don July 1st, 2007 2:14 pm

i have been drinking diet cola’s for the last 16 years. i tried the new diet pepsi max. i have found a soda that i now will drink over any other diet soda’s. i have one thing to say,why did you wait so long to make a drink that taste so good.
