Xtreme Shock

Following on from VPX Redline and Spike Shooter, comes another bodybuilding dietary supplement that seems to be marketed at the energy drink market. The makers of the product claim “within 15 minutes you will feel this drink; it’s almost like a shock drink”.

What is a shock drink anyway?

Xtreme Shock comes in 12oz bottles and contains a whole bunch of stimulants including, of course, caffeine (200mg per bottle). The drink has actually been around for a while – but has just been added into the caffeine database.

By all accounts the drink tastes just like cough medicine – Robitussin, and Dimetapp to be precise.

This has all the hallmarks of being another “dangerous” drink in the wrong hands. It comes with a lot of warnings – including this: Do not consume if you are under 18.

Xtreme Shock is sold at GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, and 7-11 (what? so much for being targeted at bodybuilders only).

I’ve tried it, it didn’t really live up to its hype of the crazy energy.

being more than 8 oz tells me that its less potent

There’s also a grape version

This stuff is INSANE.It isn’t as strong as redline, not a huge boost that makes you feel like you can take over the city and become the overlord, but it gives you an altered state of mind. This stuff gets you all itchy and makes you feel really good, until you start to freak out. People call it the ’shrooms’ of energy drinks

This is one of my favorite energy drinks. It’s not carbonated and it has a good kick to it.
There are a couple people I know that have a problem with the Fruit Punch version. I am not sure if it’s the red dye used to make it or what but it does make their skin itch but they don’t have the same reaction with the grape. There is also a citrus flavor on thier website but I have never seen it in stores.

THe Punch flavor has been greatly improved, and is now more like Hawaiian Punch and less like Dimetapp.

The formula has been revamped so it does nt have the “not for use under 18″ disclaimer, as synephrine and a few other “edgey” raws were taken out.

The “itchy” feeling comes from the Endosine – a carnosine metabolite that boosts the ATP in the muscles and buffers latic acid buildup. The real effectivness of the drink comes when you are doing anything physical.

Due to the latic acid buffering effect, your muscles do not “shut down” nearly as quickly – for example, a bodybuilder that can do 8 reps at a paticular weight can do 12 using Shock…a runner can run further, a fighter can fight longer, etc.

it is a bit potent haven’t had it in a while but maybe not as potent as spike shooter or redline but pretty strong, thermogenics are always strong too, and about the taste pretty much accurate tastes like dimetapp or robitussin haha

OMG! I had to come and look this drink up because I just had the grape and starting itching so bad. LOL! I was a little nervous because I’ve never had a reaction like that to an energy drink. It’s good though!

Drank the sugar-free blue drink and thought I was having an allergic reaction after 15mins. It tasted really artificial, akin to blue freeze pops. Extremely sweet. My skin and lips were itchy, prickly and tingly. After 1.5 hrs I was fine. When the itchiness first presented, I thought I may have to take an antihistamine and worried whether this would affect my respiration. From reading the reviews, I guess I wasn’t the only one with the skin reaction. There should be a disclaimer about the skin symptoms.

There is a disclaimer about the tingly skin. That is normal. It is called niacin. It’s the same stuff they put in the little blue pills for erectile dysfunction. Niacin makes your blood flow closer to the skin, so you become more sensative to touch. Very usefull in the blue pill. You either like that feeling or you don’t. People who like that tingly feeling say its great. People who don’t say it sucks.
