An Even Bigger Caffeine Database

In the last 5 or so months, almost 100 new items were entered into the caffeine database. The Energy Fiend database is one of the most comprehensive and up-to-date caffeine resources on-line.

Did I say up-to-date? Unfortunately that’s not quite true. The rate of new drinks hitting the market is overwhelming. My backlog includes over 40 (yes forty) energy drinks that I have yet to enter into the database. Every man and his dog is out there knocking up a caffeine ‘n sugar concoction and putting it on the shelves.

Getting the caffeine levels for these drinks can be a frustrating time-consuming experience.

Diet Coke Plus
Take the new Diet Coke Plus for example. I emailed Coca-cola regarding caffeine content

“I’ve searched all over your site, but cannot find out the amount of caffeine in the new product Diet Coke Plus.

Could you please advise as to the mg of caffeine in this product?”

One week later came this reply:

“Thank you for contacting The Coca-Cola Company, Mr. Energy Fiend. We appreciate your interest in our brands.

We can confirm that we will be launching Diet Coke Plus on April 16. What we can tell you is that it will be available later this year and that it will contain vitamins and minerals (B3, B6, B12, zinc and magnesium). “

To which I let out a great big sigh. This is typical of many responses from manufacturers. I thought Coke decided to list caffeine amounts on labels?

An Extended Caffeine Database

The caffeine database page now lists 200 items. It’s a big table and it’s filling up with obscure energy drinks. To this end I’ve decide to prune down the table - but allow users to click through to a full comprehensive caffeine database that lists absolutely everything (which will end up with over 250 items in it).

I’ll be working on this over the next few months.

A big thanks to those who have helped me by spotting new drinks, emailing in photos and label information. I really appreciate it.

Cheers!

All I can say to you is: Thank You for your time and efforts. Without a comprehensive and easy to use format, finding info about caffeinated products would be time consuming.

All the best in future updates. And thanks again.

It certainly is time consuming getting hold of caffeine info! No doubts about that.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

though you list caffeine content for ruby red squirt, unable to locate regular squirt on your list. based on my experience of last night, believe it is zero. want to compliment your effort of providing caffeine info on food and drink products. caffeine content should appear on every food and drink product sold or imported for sale in the united states. where’s the fda when you need them? congratulations on a job well done. keep up the good work. you’re appreciated. thanks, rich [teacher]

I was scanning through your caffine database and noticed only a small selection of Starbucks caffinated beverages. I really don’t go to Starbucks only because I personally believe it is overpriced, when I can walk across the street to get almost the same exact thing from Dunkin’ Donuts. I was wondering if there was any difference in the caffine content in Dunkin’ Donuts beverages verses Starbucks. Is there anyway you could maybe add a few of Dunkin’s on there as well? Thanks!

@Christa - Dunkin and Starbucks do not list caffeine content. We obtained the Starbucks caffeine content from a laboratory test in Florida… We’ll keep our eyes out ‘tho.

Just like to add my name to the list of folks thanking you for the DB. Got it bookmarked on my phone for when I encounter strange drinks in the wild. It’s a brilliant effort.
