Coffee Hacks

diy-coffee.jpgA big shout out to the guys at MakeZine for sending me a copy of their DIY Coffee project eBook thingy.

It is basically a book that details how to do some hackery on your coffee machine. What sort of hackery you may well ask?

Things like

  • Modifying your espresso maker’s portafilter (to make a better crema).
  • A seriously complex project that allows you to roast your own coffee beans.
  • A fancy temperature gadget that allows you to precisely control temperature on your espresso machine.
  • And the coolest – a way to hook up your PC to your coffee pot. Using software called MisterHouse and an X10 interface you can then program your pot to turn on and off, or even control it via the Interweb!

And, in case you wanted to know – they even said “i’m not looking for a review or anything, just wanted to see if you wanted to read it.”

For serious coffee geeks only.

“Seriously complex”? Have you ever seen the innards of hot air popcorn popper? Rocket science not required.

This sounds like Kevin Mitnick, totally. This ebook sounds most interesting. Hacking and caffeine are like PB&J!
