Java Monster: Coffee-flavored Monster Energy
We finally have some more details and pictures on the new Monster energy drinks - called Java Monster. There are three flavors: Big Black, Loca Mocha, and Mean Bean.
This, from an Energy Fiend reader:
The mean bean has a mild vanilla flavor, and the Mocha is slightly chocolaty! The two taste very similar, and resemble a coffee flavored milk more than anything else.
The can boasts “half the caffeine of regular coffee, twice the buzz”
In terms of formulation, Java Monster appears to contains the same “Energy Blend” as straight Monster.
Not quite sure about the “half the caffeine” bit. Monster contains about 70mg caffeine per 8oz - so presumably Java Monster is the same.
Anyone else tried it?

i love the loca mocha! wakes me up without making me feel crazy. i’m trying to find where i can find it in like 24 packs…
They sell these drinks at a lot of Sheetz stations
I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but this stuff is amazing. Only thing is you have to buy them individually around here- It’s too bad they don’t sell these by the crate.
Their product naming is poor. It took awhile for me to realize that “Big Black” wasn’t black coffee.
I am not really into energy drinks, my brother is and he brought me one of the “JAVA” Monsters and they rock.

where can i buy monster java in Michigan, i dont like coffee, but i really enjoyed a can of monster java while i was in Memphis TN. JUST WANT TO KNOW IF THIS PRODUCT IS AVAILABLE IN MICHIGAN??
Big Black is great stuff!!!! They have it at the grocery store in our town for 1.15 a 15 oz can…I bought a couple tonight and it has got me jittery lol..and the taste is superb..Ive been drinking too much beer lately..and decided to go to energy drinks again…this stuff is worth the money.
I recently purchased this Java Monster. I certainly agree with this population.This stuff is fantastic.
Mean Bean Is my personal favorite. But I havent yet tasted Big Black. Is it like straight black coffee ?

I am trying a Big Black Java Monster as a write this. This is the first energy drink I’ve ever tried, believe it or not. A Monster rep came into my work today promoting Monster drinks. I was drinking an iced coffee at the time and told him I’m not into energy drinks. Well, that sure kicked off the salesman in him. He gave me the whole rundown of why I should try this, how it’s better than coffee, blah blah.
The thing I found most amusing was the length he went to to try relating my coffee habit to his drink. He told me Monster approached Starbucks requesting permission to use their coffee as part of the drink. According to him Starbucks refused. So he goes on to tell me that Monster bought 51% of Starbucks available shares so they could use Starbucks coffee in their drink. I’ve yet to find anything online confirming this as truth. It was pretty funny listening to a rep for a company say something while I was standing there 99% sure he was talking out of his a$$.
Got the skinny on this product from a local distributor. Actually, our local Anheuser distributor picked it up. Monster basically said “Here are the drink with our Big M logo on it, but we’re not giving it ANY kind of national backing or funding for advertising so this is your guys’ deal.” So anywhere you see this product, that’s what is going on.
What our local guys are doing is actually having the delivery drivers be the salesmen…use their current relationships with businesses and retailers to get it into stores and put up advertisements. It’s priced excellent compared to other similar product offerings so its a smart buy.
Tastes great too, got to sample a couple of them. If you like the Starbucks cold coffees and want twice the beverage (oz) for half the price (with the same great taste), pick up one of these! And if you can’t find it anywhere, ask a distributor to pick it up and run with it!

it surprises me people haven’t seen these drinks. we have them all over utah, in every gas station almost. not only that, but they are amazing. and to the kid who said they have poor naming quality… yeah, i thought big black was black coffee too. my question to you is, how the hell did it take you a while to figure it out? you drink it and its clearly not black. its actually flavored to be a dark chocolate. mean bean is vanilla bean, and moca is obviously mocha. anyway, these things are good, try them. i live off them
Dear MONSTER COFFEE LOVER- Please do not drink this! The combination of acrylamide, which is excreted from coffee when it’s roasted, the amino acid taurine, and glucuronic acid lactone (aka glucuronolactone, look at the can), creates cancer-causing agents that can make their way into the brain and/or reproductive system. Those individuals that are over 15 years of age have a very low risk of acquiring any illness, but those who are entering puberty (11-14 years old) the chance of contracting these kinds of cancer goes up to 39%! For every 500 mg of taurine taken per day the percent goes up by roughly 4-5%, leveling off at around 3500 mg. I’m “telling you otherwise,” don’t drink Monster Coffee, especially at your age and at 2 or 3 a day. This could take away your ability to have children someday, enjoy sex, or even take away your mental capabilities!

Kimberly you should be able to get them at any local 711. Mine had all of the versions just look in the bottled coffee section where they keep the starbuck’s drinks.
Sam’s Club now sells them in a pack if you want to save money. Bought some yesterday.

Dr.Aziz is right. Children between 11-15 shouldn’t be drinking these. Or drinking Coke, Mt. Dew, taking in 2nd hand smoke, smoking, getting pregnant or drinking alcohol. That is why there is a warning label on the package, but PARENTS still buy them for their kids.

and the other day I tried a mean bean java monster and I LOVE THIS STUFF!!
I drank that …..and never needed another caffienated drink the rest of the day! Normally I am drinking 4-5 caffeine drinks a day. I did not get the caffiene buzz that I do with coffee, but I had the “get up and go” enery ALL DAY!! And I slept good that night too!

To clear up this issue for everyone. All valero’s should have JAVA Monster in atleast 1 flavor, depending on the side of the store. Currently 3 flavors Moca Loca, Mean Bean, and Big Black are the most commonly found. However, there are to new flavors to add to your search now, Low Ball, and Nut up. I swear these are the names of the flavors, and I thought it was a joke with the name Nut Up, but I have seen the can and it is a darker color can but not black like regular monster energy drinks.

A couple of represenatives popped in giving my co worker, and I a can of Big Black. We were told by customers it was horrible so we were relunctant to open them. My co worker, and I played “u first” till i won, and she opened hers to try it, and exclaimed how delicious it is, so i popped mine open, and couldn’t put it down. now we’re both hooked, and don’t know where to get it, how much begging does it take to get more?

12 packs are the largest case I have seen of these so far, usually I buy them by the case at Sam’s Club or another discount wholesale store.
They are now in all the truck stops in the South-East.

I had same experience like you guys. Helped me not to fall asleep on a long drive. By profession I am pharmacist so I tried to look into the content. One of the content is Ginseng apart from caffeine. Here are some good and bad points about Ginseng.

am loving the Monster Coffee drinks also — they are everywhere in Portland, OR —- retails ranges from $2.29 to $2.50 - haven’t looked at Sam’s Club or Costco yet…but will look for bulk soon.
The three main flavors are the best — mean bean, mocha and big black - big black is really really good….
I tried the new Tea flavor and did not like it as much — coffee can handle sweetness — the tea is too sweet…

Have used them as a meal replacement and they work great.
Energy This needs to lower there prices and maybe they sell more Monster — Supermarkets have Monster in the cold drink section for $2.29 (Safeway) —- I think an online reseller would have to go under the $2.00 per can mark to attract any buyers.
We were driving home from Central Texas to Deep South Texas, it was 1am Monday Morning, and we still needed an Hour and change to go. I stopped at a Gas Station in Premont, TX, a Valero Station. My friend went in and came out with the Loca Moca Monster… Man that was nice… Tasted Chocolaty with the Java Kick, and I didn’t feel the Rush I normally got with my regular Monster Drink. I have been looking for it in Deep South Texas since… I am hooked and I would not mind paying $2 per can, it’s still cheaper then Starbucks.
