Java Monster: Coffee-flavored Monster Energy
We finally have some more details and pictures on the new Monster energy drinks - called Java Monster. There are three flavors: Big Black, Loca Mocha, and Mean Bean.

The mean bean has a mild vanilla flavor, and the Mocha is slightly chocolaty! The two taste very similar, and resemble a coffee flavored milk more than anything else.
The can boasts “half the caffeine of regular coffee, twice the buzz”
In terms of formulation, Java Monster appears to contains the same “Energy Blend” as straight Monster.
Not quite sure about the “half the caffeine” bit. Monster contains about 70mg caffeine per 8oz - so presumably Java Monster is the same.
Anyone else tried it?

The issue with energy drinks is they contain high doses of caffeine or natural caffeines.
This sometimes cause me to have difficulty concentrating, anxiety of really nothing, sometime heart palpitations. I subject to palpitations so I just drink slowly.
Best thing to do is ‘rashion’ your beverage as you have been doing. I usually pour some in a clear cup, then I monitor my intake and get to see how fast I drink it.
I’m not a doctor and can’t say it’s bad, but too much of anything isn’t really good. Moderation is best =)
I tried Java Monster yesterday and thought it was great. I bought “Lo-Ball”, a caramel flavored drink and was very impressed, tasted just like any other good coffee drink (i.e.: couldn’t tell it was an energy drink) Meijer had them 2/$4.00, don’t know if that’s a good price or what.
OMG I love these they r so good. I could live on Loca Mochas they r that good. They should make littler ones so i can try 2 get my mom 2 buy more!

I almost tried one a few months ago, but opted for my usual Starbucks Frappucino instead because I was weary of the energy drink status, most of the energy drinks I’d tasted before were very harsh and medicinal. The only one I’d tried from Monster before came in a green can and tested very metallic, it was really gross.
But the other day, I stopped in a gas station and didn’t see anything else that appealed to me, so I said what the hell and picked up a Loca Moca. I couldn’t believe how good it was! Tasted even better than the Starbucks Frappucino’s, but double the size and 30 cents cheaper.
The next day I was grocery shopping, and I made a point to see if they carried the Java Monsters. Checked the cold drinks, and found some other energy drinks but not Java Monsters. Then I went to the soda aisle, and found them. They had Loca Moca, Big Black, and Mean Bean. I grabbed the Mean Bean, figuring it would be my personal favorite flavor, Vanilla Bean. When I tasted it, I knew I’d picked the right one. Even better than the Loca Moca, smooth and refreshing, and mixed perfectly. Sweet, but not sickeningly so (like Mountain Dew’s Gamer Fuel, ugh).
Tonight I checked Valero while getting gas, and they had a whole shelf dedicated to the Java Monsters, I believe they had every flavor (there must have been 7 or 8 at least). I picked up another Mean Bean and enjoyed it on the drive home, and it’s kept me wired all night. I shouldn’t still be awake but I made the mistake of drinking it a bit too late :D. Now all I want to do is go back and buy one of each flavor, to give them all a taste, they’re that good.
I’d love to buy in bulk from someone, but all of the retailers I’ve seen are selling for over $2 a can even when you buy a 24 pack. Around here they go for $1.99, so no one’s getting my business until they lower their prices.
Well, there are several new flavors that, so far, I’ve liked all of them: Russian blend, Irish blend, Nut up (hazelnut flavor) and, my favorite, Chai high (chai tea!) they all taste awesome, and if i didn’t already know what i was buying, i would never guess that they were energy drinks.

Monter Java is Great and the have another flavore called Irish clend. I love that one more then all of them but all 4 of them r great.

@Jennifer - I find that many of those ‘so called’ energy drinks don’t do much (jitters, palpitations, ect..) for me. Now this could be a result of me having a higher tolerance to caffeine then most. It would literally take a pot or two (and yes I mean pot not cup) before I noticed anything. I think some people are truly sensitive to the caffeine while others may be having a slight psychosomatic reaction. The good thing about the Java Monster drinks is that they have half the caffeine of coffee. It says it right on the can..
monster makes waaaaaaay more flavors than that….. i live in stuttgart AR and all the local gas stations carry the 3 “main flavors” they also make nut-up, russian, lo-ball(low carb), originale,and irish blend. they also make a chai tea flavor, chai hai.one of the local gas stations has all of the flavors except for chai hai which is the one i want most.

i have one in front of me opened and thought it was missing something so i put a dash of cinnamon in it and stirred it up and let me tell ya what, there is not a finer pick me up in the world.

Sam’s Club in the Philadelphia area has discontinued Java Monster by-the-case. When I asked, they just told me they stopped carrying it. This sucks. Does anyone know why they stopped selling it? I first tried these a couple weeks ago cause my favorite gas station was out of the frappichino i normally get. I gennerally like strong flavors, so i grabbed a mean bean, thinking this would be the strongest of the 4 or 5 choices. Well i was surprised. It wasnt harsh at all, and it didnt have that medicine taste that i normaly get with other energy drinks. It was smoothe, creamy, and just wonderful.
I have since tried the russian, the irish cream(which the 2 taste exactly the same to me) lo ball, black something, and one other that i cant remember this morning(havent had my monster yet) I found them all to be a very pleasent morning starter.
The one thing that i would like to mention about these, most energy drinks kinda make me nervous in the morning, and on occasion upset my stomach just a little if its the first thing i drink when i wake up, and then leave me with a drained feeling that starts around lunch. The monstser javas give me none of this. I can allways feel them comming on, but they come on nice and gentle, and last me the whole day. and dont leave me feeling wiped out.
Sorry frappichino, the monsters have you beat. Dont get me wrong, the frappi’s are nice, and i still get one every once in a while, but if i’m not going to make my own blend at home(coffee, splenda, and bailies irish cream) then its gotta be a monster.

I drink Monster java daily now, Im not a big fan of coffee but do like a cold coffee tasting drink in the AM, the bomb is when you shake the can till you cant here the contents in the can , snap the toop a little and watch it foam, suck it up, open the can fully and you have a nice thick drink for a short time, Sams club use to carry it by the case, but the typical club store once you find something you like they usually change it or dont carry it any more. You can find it at Walmart abit cheaper by the 4 pack. ALso while your getting ready for work stick a can in the freezer for a short while ( till ice starts forming) makes it thick again and keeps the drink colder longer, FYI, dont forget it in the freezer, if it freezes to longer the can will explode and you’ll have monster guts all over the freezer, been their did that, A b-tch to clean. ALl in all its a good drink, dont worry about getting a Buzz it wont happen.

the average Java is about 2.69 per can here in NY, except for the parkways, their selling it for about 3.00 per can. Recently CVS has been selling it for 1.50 per can its a good buy. Dont buy it online you’ll pay over 3.00 per can. Like mentioned before, Sam’s club use to carry it buy the case, but dont carry it anymore, sources tell me they were under selling it, so they stopped carrying it for awhile.
You can STILL order Java Monster online at samsclub.com. They will ship it to you store. I buy it all the time, 4 12 can cases at a time.
Sams has THE ABSOLUTE LOWEST price on them, but its just the 3 popular flavors.

Java Monster tastes TERRIFIC! My favorite is Big Black and Loca Moca..
I have only been drinking Java Monsters for about four weeks, I love the taste and the energy! I only need one per day, and it helps me to cut it in half with water and sip slowly it during the day (I’m 55 and female) then I don’t get that crazy high energy, just a nice buzz all day long. I have noticed that if I gulp it straight about twenty minutes later I feel ANGRY about nothing in particular, and very impatient with people. I’m wondering if there’s any ingredient in particular that might be the cause of that??? I love them, but if they’re going to cause cancer and raging mood swings, I don’t know…..
