What is the Most Expensive Starbucks Drink?

starbucksrecpt.jpgWhat would you do if you were given a voucher redeemable for any Starbucks drink?

This guy concocted the most expensive coffee.

Here it is:

13 shot venti soy hazelnut vanilla cinnamon white mocha with extra white mocha and caramel.

Total Cost: $13.76 (with tax).

What the blogger didn’t tote up was the amount of caffeine in this drink. A while back we compiled a very detailed list of Starbucks Caffeine - using recently published information from Starbucks and independent lab tests.

The figure for an espresso shot is 75mg, so 13×75mg = 975mg. A long way from a lethal dose - but enough to cause some serious reactions. That’s equivalent to downing 3 Spike Shooters - which was enough to send some students to the emergency room.

Anyone care to come up with an even more expensive Starbucks drink?

I actually work at Starbucks, mainly for the health insurance. We had someone come in and get 20 shots of espresso with 2 pumps of White mocha. He didn’t drink all of it though. If he did there is a good chance he would have some SERIOUS complications and ended up in the hospital.

I thought my 9 shot Venti Caffe Americano was tough. I am not even close. This, however, puts me to a challenge. I will go and try to get an expensive Starbucks coffee. I think I could do it.

While working at Starbucks…I have downed 11 shots in one sitting…that was a little crazy…but I did 15 in one day and my eyeball was twitching and I was a little dizzy

I used to work at Starbucks. Just like in Indiana Jones where he takes one shot after the other back and forth with the woman, my co-workers and I would down shot after shot of expresso and see who could take the most without surrendering. After around 10-11 each, we were in serious trouble. I think the final winner came in around 14 shots and quickly drank tons of water to get the awful taste out of their mouth, which was the least of their concerns!

Actually, one of my co-bloggers took up this challenge, and beat his price. You can read all about it here:

Once, about 10 years ago I ate around 40 chocolate covered espresso beans over the course of maybe half an hour. I reiterate that I did this ONCE. I don’t remember part of my day, I DO recall being dry-mouthed and physically running throughout a marketing center where I was a manager. My excitement was apparently pretty motivating for my team but I was left with various muscle twitches for a day and an after-work desire to sleep for even longer.

I read this 10 minutes after drinking a Quad Venti Almond Soy Latte and all I can say is I feel great :)

Guess you haven’t heard of my “Extreme Starbucks Shot club.” There talk of an event being added to the X games next year.

Too easy: 14 shot venti soy hazelnut vanilla cinnamon white mocha with extra white mocha and caramel.

cd January 18th, 2008 12:46 pm

how can this be the most expensive? wouldn’t a 14 shot be more expensive?

GH Waite January 18th, 2008 12:47 pm

Ya know, you could order the thing decaf. That way it won’t kill you, just strain the kidneys a bit.

nunya January 18th, 2008 1:23 pm

Wow. And I thought old meth addicts just fell of the face of the earth, but apparently they start having Charsucks Coffee espresso shot competitions late in life.

Ah, the life of a yuppie.

/goes back to smoking ungodly amounts of medical cannabis.

I thought it was the Quadtruple Espressissinoso Super Grande Venti® Light Blueberries And Cream Half-Soy Three Quarter City Roast Nonfat Half-caf Non-Organic Caramel Vanilla Iced Double-Shot Macchiato Herbal Tazo® Chai Black Tea Foamed Shaken Sugar-free Cinnamon Eggnog Dolce de Leche Peppermint Gingerbread Pumpkin Spiced White Chocolate Mocha Latte Thrice Blended Extra Hot With Fourteen Ice Cubes Hold The Whipped Cream, and Two Bottled Waters?

too bad starbucks roasts the hell out of their espresso, drastically decreasing the amount of caffeine in said drink. basically starbucks=garbage

Preston January 19th, 2008 1:49 pm

Actually, she rang you up wrong. There is no charge for extra of anything, and it should read “extra WHITE mocha”, not “add mocha”. There would be an ‘nc’ after it, indicating the lack of charge thereof. So not only did this Barista not know what she was doing, but your final price should be $13.46.

p.s. Organic milk costs more.

13 shots…phhhh. I work at a starbucks and one of the girls I work with (she’s crazy) has been working there for about 6 years and has become so immune to caffiene that she’ll start her shift with “6 over an inch” (6 shots of espresso over an inch of liquid whip and over her 8 hour shifts which include 3 breaks, she’ll probably get 2 more of those and a coffee and on her way home she’ll grab a quad grande latte. It’s disgusting.

But most expensive drink? Get a venti frap, add a bunch of shots of espresso and syrups, and get it blended with half soy or something. I’m sure that would add up to quite a bit.

There used to be a very thick, sweet chocolate drink like hot chocolate that was like 2.50 for 4 ounces. I had them put 4 of those and a few add shots in a frappuccino cup and it was at least $15. And I think it almost killed me.

Drea February 20th, 2008 3:32 pm

ah, satan that would be the chantico. that was some strong chocolate! i wish we still had that….but 16 ounces of it? it was so sweet i could barely even finish a sample size of those that we offered for customers to try.

My bad for posting this reply on this blog. I meant to post it on the blog titled: Starbucks, Perfect Shot Gone Wrong, but my eyes are tired and I probably just need more coffee (ha ha).

Thomas May 20th, 2008 11:41 am

An iced venti espresso with no ice or water and shots to the top (19) would actually be slightly more.

sabi June 14th, 2008 6:27 pm

i love starbucks i thought the most expensive was $15 but wow 13.76 is great since i always get a frappucino
