Engobi: Caffeinated Snacks
Engobi “Energy Go Bites” are a new highly caffeinated range of snacks. They are a kind of chip – but with unusual flavors such as “Cinnamon Surge” and “Lemon Lift”.
Now here’s the crunch – a 1.5 ounce bag contains 140mg caffeine. That’s a lot of caffeine for a little bag of chips.
How they manage to disguise the bitterness of caffeine – without burying it in sugar is beyond me.
Rudolph Foods (the manufacturer) claim that Engobi is “The market’s first caffeine-infused
munchie,”. This is untrue. About 8 months ago NRG chips hit the market.
If you want a sample keep an eye out for this lady. Her hair is like a yellow version of Marg Simpson. Or maybe it’s supposed to resemble the snack, or maybe…?

NRG does not infuse the caffeine into their chips, they just sprinkle it on top. Engobi actually cooks in the caffeine during the production process, which is a totally different way of doing it. I think you should expect tons of “caffeine chip” copiers once this gets out.
With names like “Cinnamon Surge” and “Lemon Lift” I’d assume they do bury it in sugar.
ENGOBI really IS the first caffeine-INFUSED snack product. The chip product you mentioned is coated with caffeine, not infused.
It’s an important distinction because, by infusing the caffeine into the product, ENGOBI can consistently deliver its 140mg energy hit. Coating and sprinkling are much less precise.
I don’t know if it’s really that loaded with sugar…according to the nutritional info it has a total of 28g of total Carbohydrates…in that it has 4g of sugar so not to much…
so… how’s the taste? does it work?
forget samples, when’s this stuff hitting the market for me to BUY?
[...] Do we need Caffeinated Chips? [...]
no we don’t NEED caffeinated chips, we don’t NEED computers though either. but all of us enjoy its uses.
chips + caffeine = bow chicka-bow-wow
I just got a free sample of the Cinnamon Surge chips. Upon first couple of bites I did not like them but then they sort of grew on me. Except now I have a low-level headache. They retail for $1.29 and it’s a generously sized bag, so if you like them it’s good value.
I was given a sample yesterday, and I also did not like the taste. They weren’t bitter, exactly, but they were very sweet and tasted chemical-y. They’re sweetened with sucralose, and I could really taste the artificial sweetener.
I am impressed that they’re selling for $1.29, though (according to the stamp on the 1.5 oz package). Much cheaper than an energy drink and chips combined.
I just finished a bag of the cinnamon flavor. I thought it was good, and didn’t taste “chemical-y”.
I cringe at the thought of what would happen if children or pets got into them. Or anyone on medications that do not mix with caffeine (drugs for ADHD).
I received a sample of both flavors. At first I thought the cinnamon ones were good, kind of like cinnamon twists at Taco Bell, but then I did get that chemical/artificial sweetener aftertaste. If your taste buds are sensitive to artificial sweetener I would avoid them. The lemon ones were absolutely awful IMO. Although, I know it doesn’t matter how many negative comments people read, they will still want to try these for their novelty. Make sure you have something to drink to wash these nasty things down with.
See, now I realize many people have left negative comments, but all I can say is that I got my hands on a few bags, and I haven’t turned back since. I suppose I’ve never been the chemical-sensitive type everyone else keeps mentioning, so take this for what it’s worth
.

Super! Chips + caffeine = the best of both worlds!
