Live Longer Drink Caffeine

Good news caffeine addicts!

This is what you’ve been waiting to hear. A new 24 year study has concluded that women who drink more than six cups of coffee a day had a 17% less risk of dying from cancer, heart disease, and other illnesses according to US News and World Report.

It’s nice to hear some positive news about caffeine for a change. It seems as of late the only thing in the headlines about large doses of caffeine were the stories of teens turning into raving maniacs when they consume energy drinks or about schools banning the infamous energy inducing beverages.

How much caffeine is in six cups of coffee? Well if we look at our handy caffeine database, we see that six cups of drip coffee (the usual office variety) equals a whopping 870 milligrams of caffeine!

The research wasn’t clear whether it was the caffeine or the anti-oxidants in the brew that had the long term health benefits, but with all of the vitamins and herbs they’re cramming into energy drinks these days, I imagine they would be just as beneficial.

Unfortunately, this study only involved women so us men are left to wonder if the same benefits hold true for us. I for one am willing to take that leap of faith and consume as much caffeine as I want.

So when you question whether or not to have that 4th Rockstar, go ahead, because “caffeine does a body good”!

Amen to that. Not that I was going to quit or anything…it’s just good to see I have an extra excuse to drink it.

Also, kudos on the pic. If only it weren’t so true.

yeah sure, have that 4th rockstar. just be aware, this is my sencond time having holes in my stomach from caffeine and energy drinks…. maybe that fourth one isnt always such a good thing. Yeah, you fight cancer but in the meantime you are on medication and can’t eat because you are in so much pain.
Have fun!

^ Nobody ever said you had to have the 4th on an empty stomach. Caffeine increases metabolism, caffeine is stronger on an empty stomach (furthering digestion leading to an emptier stomach). and so it goes. All it takes is a little food once in a while and your stomach should be hole free. Just be smart

Hallelujah! I’m printing this out and sticking it on my locker at work. All of my coworkers are certain that I’m going to drop dead from caffeine OD, but now I’ll show that I’ll outlive them all. ;-)

I doubt caffeine is improving wellness. It’s probably the natural anti-oxidants in coffee beans.

I just typed “adverse effects from caffeine” on the google search and came up with this info…seems quite vast and interesting. It’s always best to look at both sides of the issue. Copy and paste or do your own search:

Ok need to say I reaslly like the idea of being able to have as much caffine as I want. I however would suggest to all those woman wanting to take this as the bible and drink coffee like a fiend, do your research coffee is a dieretic( dries your skin and everything else out) so it makes you age more quickly. I have just switched to tea to get my caffine fix and it seems to be ok so far. Alas it does not have that great taste of coffee but I don’t want to look 60 and be 40 so tea for me please!

b4lee, I looked at the google search results, and a good majority of the pages that turned up had sources of studies that are long since outdated (many were from the 70’s, a few from the 90’s). Every current magazine/internet article that has been based on current scientific research has backed up exactly what this article is saying, that caffeine is showing signs of increased life. You really can’t buy information thats 30-40 years old. Maybe in forty more years we will find that current research is wrong, but current science is what we have to go with.
Of course too much of anything can kill you (even water! look it up), but every current research report on caffeine will tell you that as long as you limit your caffeine intake to 400mg/day, you wont get hurt from it, and even more than that most likely wont either (assuming you’re a healthy adult).
