The FDA Continues to Hassle Cocaine Energy
Redux beverages recently posted a press release announcing their new look for Cocaine Energy Supplement.
They were going to wait until 2009 for redesign, but because of continued FDA pressure, they have decided to introduce the changes by the end of July.
The FDA was concerned with the chalk-like lettering on the can and some of the terminology used. Although the Redux’s can designer stated that he just used a chalk-like font, The FDA found a much more sinister lesson in the font, suggesting that it “appears to be cocaine powder … that has been ‘cut’ by an object (presumably a credit card or razor blade) to form letters.”
Redux Beverages says that “School teachers everywhere should now be on notice that things written in chalk will be scrutinized more closely by the federal government and could subject the chalk-bearer to civil and criminal liability. No word from the government on whether a chalk ban is next, but school districts across the nation would be well-advised to consider a shift to dry-erase boards. But please, for goodness sake, do NOT sniff those markers!”
Redux will also replace the Cocaine Cut with Cocaine Mild because the FDA was concerned with the negative associations with the word “cut”.
Has the federal government gone to far in censoring this drink or are they doing the nation a service by preventing naive teenagers from entering the world of illegal drug use?

Wow. Can you say ridiculous much? It seems to me that if the FDA is doing anything more than making sure this product doesn’t kill it’s consumers, then it’s overstepping its boundaries.
And seriously, how talented would you have to be to rake the coke in to the perfectly formed letters spelling out “Cocaine” the way it’s printed on the can. If the letters were squared off, I could totally see it, but as it is now, I think it’s pretty obvious someone is just being overly dramatic.
Argh. The one time I don’t proofread before I post. That rogue apostrophe is will now haunt me to my grave
The FDA needs to BACK OFF! Its just a name. I mean seriously, what the hell is the FDA’s problem!! They are to strict about shit like that. So BACK OFF!!!!!
the fda can’t take away there brilliant marketing scheme. i mean whats more powerful than liquid cocaine. they r gunna outsell everyone for power nos and spike do come close though if the fda would just stfu. seriously my mom made a joke about me drinking energy drinks (i’m 14) “why don’t u just shoot liquid cocaine into ur veins” to which i responded “no, i think i’ll just drink it.”
I am a model for this energy drink in New Mexico and the only thing that Redux has to change now is the cut Cocaine they can keep the lettering because they bought the rights to use it
You know, there’s another drink with a name similar to cocaine. It’s not incredibly famous but a few hard core fans enjoy it. What is it called COKE-cola? Now, if naming an energy drink after an illegal drug can guarantee that the drug will later be consumed (and OBVIOUSLY it does as the FDA are hardly known for overreacting) the surely the Coke drink should be stopped too. And that’s not the only danger, what a poor innocent child sips some doctor pepper? He will lose control, walk down to his local GP and start drinking his liquid insides. Something must be done to stop this catastrophe from occurring!
This is one of the most intense energy drinks out there. It delivers a punch that takes power almost instantly and goes down with a burn in your throat like alcohol.
Cocaine energy drink is banned in my state.
For no reason other than the name.
It’s ridiculous.

anyone that’s stupid enough to think drinking the energy drink means doing the drug is acceptable probably thinks that because they played grand theft auto they can go kill people.
the idea is ludicrous, and the fda should back off.
it’s just a drink with a sense of humor.
unfortunately i still have yet to taste it, so i can’t say anything of the drink
