Website Poll: How Evil is Caffeine?

caffeine_drinksAlmost daily there are new’s articles about the evils of caffeine.

Caffeine causes jitters, heart palpitations, toxic jock syndrome, people to steal, hyperactivity…blah blah blah…

I would be the first to agree that caffeine has addictive qualities and I need my two cups of java every morning, but if the anti-caffeine groups out there had their way, we would all be going to the street corner to illegally get our daily fix. There is even a lobby group wanting caffeine to be labeled as a gateway drug.

There are over 500 groups on Facebook dealing with caffeine, most all in favor, but some preaching it’s evils. The medical community can’t agree either with some doctors saying it causes no long term ill effects and others stating it does. Then we have all the studies that depending on who they were funded by have conflicting results.

Other groups warn that caffeine addicts just want more and more because of tolerance until they eventually OD.

So what do you think? Participate in the poll below and let us know.

Gateway drug, that’s funny. I’ve been enjoying energy drinks for 3 years, over that time, I have never consumed alcohol or smoked a cigarette let alone any other illegal drug. That honestly sounds like a cheap shot from parents who can’t believe their kids have started smoking, drinking, or doing other drugs, because it’s definitely not peer pressure or ANYTHING else, it’s gotta be caffeine… yeah right. I could only see that if they use energy drinks as a mixer which some say you can, even then, that’s not the caffeine.

The government needs to get the hell out of my body.

I can understand restaurants disallowing smoking, and regulations induced to reduce things like second-hand smoke. People should be allowed to limit their exposure, and the restaurant owner makes the decisions about what goes on in his property.

But beyond that, any further regulation is an intrusion on the rights of the people. I don’t just mean caffeine; the majority of the people in prison are in there on 20 year minimums for drug use.

A non-violent crime.

20 year minimums.

Sense: This shit makes none.

All things in moderation. Anything taken to extremes can be bad. I’m so naturally lethargic and non-energetic that I swear if it weren’t for caffeine I wouldn’t be half as active as I am now. I used to nap daily (big naps) and always feel tired despite a healthy diet and lifestyle I just naturally felt no energy. Then one day I discovered caffeine wasn’t like I had heard my whole life. Not feeling so tired and having a little more energy each day is great! Over the years I have just decided that I like my life a little better with a bit of caffeine. Some days I don’t have any and occasionally it’s nice to have a lot caffeine and feel lot’s of energy. It has some great benefits in moderation.
