AMP Energy Juice: OJ Just Got a Makeover!

Now here is a part of the energy drink world that companies haven’t truly explored yet, the energy juice.

We’ve seen energy drinks with 50 or 60 percent juice, but AMP has upped the standard with their new 100% juice, AMP Energy Juice.

Juice implies it’s good for you, yet energy usually means the opposite, so can AMP, with both of their flavors (Orange and Mixed Berry), get the best of both worlds, and oh yeah, make it taste at least halfway decent?

Taste

I tried both the orange and mixed berry flavors of AMP Energy Juice and must say I’m not usually a fan of mixed berry drinks, so I wasn’t too keen on the taste of that, yet the orange was very impressive! Both were incredibly smooth and were very nice to drink. Orange tasted just like a pulp free orange juice with no real after-taste or bitterness.

Ingredients

Both juices had nearly identical nutritional facts. Not only loaded with vitamin C as you would expect from the “juice” part, this “juice” also packs 120mg caffeine along with 150% Niacin, 150% vitamin B6 AND B12, Taurine, Ginseng, and Guarana, making this not just your normal Sunday morning breakfast juice.

Effect

Effect was right on. A Nice boost and alertness to the beginning of my day, that lasted for about 5 hours, with no real crash towards the end. Not really an energy buzz, more like a lift that left me feeling good all day.

Verdict

My verdict is a huge thumbs up on AMP Energy Juice. If you’re a mixed berry fan you will love the mixed berry, yet in my case I can definitely see myself reaching for the Amp Orange the next time I need that little kick in the morning when my average breakfast wont cut it. AMP has continually made solid products from the beginning and their new line of energy juices continues in that direction.

Huh? Why is this stuff getting bad reviews? The berry was pretty damn good. The orange wasn’t as good, but definitely not gross. Anyways, for some reason I get energetic drinking this stuff with no burnout. With all the other energy drinks I’ve had, I’ll spike for a short amount of time and then be absolutely drained. I’m kind of hooked on the berry now and drink it about every other day.

I haven’t tried the OJ but the mixed berry tasted AWFUL. Maybe I’ll try the OJ one later but my first impression was not good! No wonder the reviewer said the berry flavor wasn’t for him!

I know for a fact we aren’t paid either or I’d be a wealthy man and there would be no negative reviews on the site…..

Well I know they are not on the take and neither am I. I actually drank a bottle of the orange yesterday that I had in the back of my fridge and it was good.

Was on a road trip with the family, and had been keeping a lookout for this stuff, and finally found it. I grabbed the berry, and I have to say, it made the car stink. I don’t comment on these things too much, but I had to let people know that this stuff is horrible. I didn’t try the OJ, and I’m not going to. I don’t know if you energy fiend guys are paid to review drinks or not, but Amp had to have given you guys money to give them a good review. How could anyone even tolerate an entire bottle of this garbage?

I couldn’t agree with Dusty more. It’s AMP it has to be great, right? Not the Orange Juice. It reminded me of a sweaty armpit. Couldn’t drink it at all.

I tried the OJ today and thought it tasted suspiciously like grapefruit juice rather than orange juice. However, on reading the label I didn’t see grapefruit juice listed any where in the ingredients list. It wasn’t bad, just not what I was expecting. The energy lasted a good while though.

Truthfully, I was a bit disappointed by these drinks.

The first time opened the OJ, I swore the smell had a hint of baby diaper to it. This is Amp, though, I told myself. Amp is notorious in my book for making great tasting drinks.

Both of these drinks, moreover the OJ, cannot hide their true intentions from your truth seeking tongue. I tasted bitterness, I tasted caffeine, and when it comes to orange juice, that just does not work out. The Berry is the better of the two, but still it’s nothing too short of a let down. Maybe my expectations were too high, being a die hard Amp fan when it comes to flavor.

This is a sad state of affairs, because if you don’t like the taste of an Amp drink, it’s all over. Amp has never in their life made a drink that actually energizes the caffeinated consumer, and these drinks are no exception.

My verdict? One word – Vuka. Vuka already did this, and they simply tried harder than Amp. Amp’s name will probably keep their OJ drink in more people’s hands than Vuka’s stellar Awake, and that’s just depressing.

I’ve had both the Orange Juice and Mixed Berry versions, and definitely prefer the OJ. The OJ tastes like regular orange juice that’s just a little “off,” whereas the mixed berry didn’t really taste like much of anything.

I try the orange juice and i thought it was gross it has like a bitter taste to it. I have the berry one but now I’m afraid to try that one.

rdeluca March 17th, 2010 9:21 am

Not agreeing. I normally drink a Sobe Energy, but when I saw the Amp Orange ( with more caffaine) I thought i’d give it a try. Could’nt finish it. Who did the taste test on this stuff?

edjunkie March 17th, 2010 8:30 am

The mixed berry actually has little to no berry taste at all which is kind of strange. I agree though that this is finally a great product from Amp
