Boy Hospitalized After Red Bull Overdose

Red Bull sold over 3.5 BILLION cans last year. Just take a moment or two to ponder that. 2007 sales figures increased 17% over the previous year.

However, I digress. A 15 year-old in the UK was taken to hospital with heart palpitations after drinking eight cans of Red Bull.

Eight cans is about 640mg of caffeine – which – to be honest is not a huge amount. Red Bull also contains 1000mg of Taurine, 60mg Glucuronolactone, and 27 grams of sugar per can.

So to get things straight – the overdosing teenager consumed 216 grams of sugar (that’s about 54 teaspoons) along with 8 grams of Taurine.

8 cans of anything is plain stupid.

It’s odd how caffeine makes the headlines – but we never see this: “Boy gets intoxicated after beer overdose”. Despite the fact that happens every single day (or hour). And despite the fact that 1,400 college students lose their lives each year due to alcohol-related injuries (source).

well i personally drink 2 – 3 cans in a day never any more but if you drink cheap brands which have less of an effect than the good brands (Red Bull, Monster, Relentless) you are less likely to have effects
videoCWK – you are a tool your to young for that kind off talk and you lie you should be dead….

Just recently I am trying to wean myself off Red Bull. I get up every Monday through Friday at 4 a.m. to begin my work day at 5:30 to open a store. We sell Red Bull and I love the shit,so much I drink 4 or 5 cans through out my shift to keep me rushing around. On the weekends I gave myself a break and felt like jet lag and tired, like I needed to sleep the whole weekend away. LATELY; my heart feels like it’s goinng to explode at times, and my breast developed a lump at first it looked like a blister then it got bigger and won’t heal right….for awhile I’m going to not drink red bull and see if a few other things go away. I love this shit, but not sure how well it likes me. I’m not as perky as I was without it, some days I feel like I’m not going to get through the day without my Red Bull. Wish me luck!

I drank my first can. There was no effect. When my cousin drank redbull she was hospitalized due to her diabetes.
