So a regular cup of American coffee puts me to sleep, an espresso shot is just like regular coffee, a double espresso wakes me up a bit but is not enough for an all nighter, and I never could understand how my fellow students could even consider soda (whether Coke or Mountain Dew) as anything but a negligible source of caffeine. So the move towards energy drink was a natural one. In my world, Red Bull is adequate for those moments were you want to appear alert, Monster drinks are treated like regular sodas, and Starbucks espresso drinks are mainly attractive for their taste. Yep I am a caffeine fiend all right...:)

I rated “Competent.” <img

Maybe change the questions to replace "energy drinks" with "caffeine"? However, summer has arrived (in Texas, some time in February) so I will probably switch to iced tea or Rock Star.

I never drink energy drinks, I drink coffee, so I failed the test. I just quit drinking 3 (sometimes 4) energy shots a day after having too much vitamin b(3,6,&12) in my body... causing toxins. not the greatest feeling. almost caused a stroke at work. be wary. read the label. and whats not on the label, will hurt(or kill) you. look it up, youre supposed to drink more water than usual with energy drinks, and with the energy shots.. eat right after or before drinking the recommended dose. stay safe and dont wind up with some sort of nerve damage..(P.S. : Taking "DL Phenylalanine" during the day really helps me. And for the night I use a low dose of melatonin and/or L-Theanine. Just a suggestion)

Yeah, this s**t is crazy. One week is for the regular user which is around 200-300mg a day.

@Tom you were more on the extreme end at 1500mg a day roughly. My issue is coffee, I drink it black with no sugar but have been doing it for years & before I quite drinking it I was consuming about 12 cups daily. I'm in the last part of the second week of withdraw and for the last four days my ears have been ringing non stop with maybe a very slight headache. The article on this site says about a week is all it takes to get through this, I'm confused.

My problem was not energy drinks. I am currently in day 2 of caffeine withdrawal and I hate everyone. My head is splitting and I want to rip my eyes out of my sockets. Sucks ass to do but I think it was messin with my health. End.

Monster and Red bull give me heart palpitations, but that may be because I was drinking 2 litre’s of Mountain Dew a day.
