Noah is right. Both Grande and Venti have 2 shots of espresso in them. Venti just has more milk (or whatever you choose). For coffee, Venti is 20 oz, Grande is 16 oz. So do the math.

[…] They also have a candy version. […]

Do you think Yerba Mate tea has caffeine? or is it mateine which is really different from caffeine?

Carrie May 4th, 2007 11:53 am

how many mg of caffeine in a Starbucks Vanilla Latte. Any size.

Coffee Czar May 4th, 2007 12:22 pm

Mateine was discovered separtely from caffeine and thus they had separate names until it was discovered in 1838 that all the stimulating alkaloids in tea, kola nut, coffee, guarana, cacao, etc.were the same substance as the one first discovered in 1820 by Friedlieb Ferdinand Runge within coffee and named caffeine.

You didn’t mention Venom. How much caffiene is in a can of that? I don’t drink any of that stuff anyway, but being health conscious, I’m curious.

Ann Margaret July 2nd, 2007 8:34 am

I have CF ( Cystic Fibrosis) and My doctor told me that i have to cut back on Caffiene because i have really bad stomach acid. And i was woundering how i get over the craving of Caffiene…. Please help me out.

“Do you think Yerba Mate tea has caffeine? or is it mateine which is really different from caffeine?”

Yes, it has caffeine. Sometimes they use different names to describe the source which the caffeine came from. From Tea, Teaine, from Guarana, Guranine, etc..

It’s easy to get confused when you see some sources saying that it has caffeine, and another saying it has mateine.

sruli July 15th, 2007 1:29 am

Probably I am not the first to bring it up, but once you start comparing natural products, you also should consider the quantities of other methylxanthines that may be present. Chocolate contains large quantities of theobromine, which has a much smaller direct stimulant effect than caffiene, but may have other properties. Tea contains large amounts of theophylline, a potent stimulant which affects the respiratory system more than caffiene does. (For many asthmatics it is the drug of choice.) And even though guaranine *IS* caffiene, there are probably other substances in guarana contributing to effect - guarana “feels” different.

I see you are saying Jolt gum has only 12.7 MG of caffeine, yet their package says “2 pieces=one cup of coffee” (which normally has from 100-120 mg). Where did you get the 12.7? Who’s fibbing?

Caffeine Fiend July 23rd, 2007 2:10 pm

@Michael - click on the link for the Jolt Gum above. A lab test was done on the gum - and only 12.7mg of caffeine was found.

How many mg caffeine is in Dreyer’s Coffee Flavored Ice Cream - No sugar added

Robert August 3rd, 2007 9:09 am

Ann Margaret, there is a drink you can make very cheaply which has a tart and refreshing flavor, is easily mixed with other drinks, etc., and will likely at least reduce your want for caffeine. Look up “kombucha” on the Web. I’ve been using it for about a month & can notice some real health & enegy improvements on top of drinking less coffee.

Just wanted to comment on Barista’s comment..

The hot Grande and Venti drinks both have 2 shots of espresso, however the Iced Venti has 3 shots of espresso. I learned about this recently, so I get the venti—even though it costs more, it packs more caffeine, but doesn’t taste as bitter with the extra milk and ice:).

David S August 15th, 2007 9:16 am

Darcy,
Just to let you know, I thought that I was going to die 3 nights ago from this tea. It made me so sick that I almost told my wife to call 911. I had a major reaction to this tea. I found out it is also an appetite suppressant. I drank a med to large glass of this tea. It tasted pretty good, just bad effect on my body. I had seizure type attacks one after another that lasted close to 4 hours total. It triggered something in my brain, to say the least it was not good.. I am not saying this would happen to you, it just happened to me and I was sharing my story. Good luck..

I recently tried a bag of NRG potato chips. They are manufactured by Golden Flake. After trying them I thought I would visit this site to see if it was listed. Sadly, it wasn’t. Maybe someone could add it. The chips tasted pretty good but were very spicy, so if you don’t like spicy things, I would stay away from them. I really liked them but I was very curious as to how much caffeine was in them.

Absolutely love your site! Five stars and a couple of cans of Triple Dose Rockstar!!! Found the site via the death by caffine and love all the great information that is provided here.

If you’ve ever been bored with coffee and plain water, or if you’ve ever wished you could sift through all the complicated chemical ingredients of an energy drink to understand what’s really in there, FYXX hybrid is for you.

Does anyone know whether rum has caffeine in it? Like Bacardi? I’ll occasionally have a caffeine-free diet coke and bacardi and then have trouble falling asleep. I can’t find rum on any of the caffeine databases.

Chocolate contains theobromide, another xanthine compound, similar to caffeine, that can add to its punch. Can you get some numbers for its concentration?

Yet another of the xanthine family is theophylline. I do not think much of this is in food, but it would be interesting to see if it is. It could also have an additive effect.

And lastly another food that has chocolate in it is Pumpernickel bread. Can you get some numbers for this?
