Prices vary but shot of buying pure caffeine powder it has to be the cheapest option, and no sugar / aspartame etc. What is interesting is that pure a caffeine allows the user to distinguish between its effects and that of a massive dose of sugar. One down side of caffeine (apart from the usual medical issues associated with stimulants ie raised hbpm and blood pressure) is its repuation for inducing headaches following doses of 200mg +.

In the UK anyome can buy Pro Plus tabs over the counter. I drink some for the taste, mostly as mixers with vodka. The packets of crystals is getting more to my liking. I haven't looked, but I doubt its worth the cost. The solution for myself was buying pure caffeine powder. You won't find it in any store, but it can be had online from places that carry various unregulated powders. I got a 400gram container for $13 + shipping (which wasn't much as I ordered some other stuff at the same time). A few years later I still have most of it. That container is the same as 2000 of the Firestar packets, so even if I took that dose daily, it'd last me for half a decade. The downside to buying the powder is connivence. You can't just take a can with you, or a sachet or whatever. At slightly over 500mg per 1/4 tsp, you have to be careful measuring it out. I use the smallest spoon I have and only fill it partially, so I'm never completely sure if I'm getting 100mg or 300mg until I feel it hit. So far, the best solution is to toss a bit in a bottle of juice or gatorade and shake it up. Of course, if I need the instant kick, and I'm at home, I just toss it on my tongue and take a drink. Instant rush to say the least. With the combined paranoia about drugs and terrorism, I dare not try carrying anything containing unlabeled white powder with me, except to my office.

I find most of the drinks to be gimmicks, too little caffeine for the cost.
