Ink Energy Drink Review
Another drink from Down Under is Ink energy drink. With it’s unassuming red can with a Maori inspired tattoo design covering the front this drink, it does spark some curiosity.
This drink makes no exaggerated claims of energy or greatness but simply states;
“Ink- marks worn with pride. Symbols of courage and determination. Earned, not given. Rise to the challenge.”
In traditional Maori culture the beautiful tattoos that they adorn are earned as rights of passage and status. Maori tattoos symbolize strength and vitality.
Lets see if this unique drink can deliver what it’s art represents.
Taste
Ink energy drink’s flavor was certainly different than I expected it to be. I guess because of the red can my brain made assumptions about the flavor so when it hit my lips, I was quite surprised and yet confused. I just couldn’t quite place the flavor of this one. I could definitely taste citrus, but cola as well, or is it coffee like in the Black V?
Still not quite sure, but if you think “citrus cola” it kind of starts agreeing with your brain, but then it could be “coffee citrus” as well. Hmmmmm. I couldn’t say that this was the greatest tasting drink, but it wasn’t bad and I had no trouble finishing the can.
Ingredients
Ink will give you 600mg of guarana and 2000mg of taurine along with 160mg of caffeine and some B vitamins. This drink has 550mg of sodium which is high for an energy drink and funny as I was drinking it, I checked the sodium because it did taste slightly salty to me.
Effect
I drank this drink as an afternoon pick-me-up and it did just that. I plugged on till 4:30 at work where I managed to crash a website, then I went for a winter surf for over an hour, and then I hung out with some friends and watched a movie. The whole time feeling quite energetic.
Verdict
With few energy drink options available in New Zealand and Australia, I would recommend you try this drink. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the taste or the energy delivery.

This reminds me of those 7-11 drinks…Ink’d. “Maori” was one of the flavors.

This is the single most disgusting energy drink in the world, why would you sell this poison. We even spewed up drinking this crap. IN ALL MY TIME DRINKING ENERGY DRINKS I’VE NEVER COME ACROSS A DRINK THIS DISGUSTING.
FROM TOM & JAMES(WHO THINK INK SUCKS!!!!)
THANKS.
I for one think this energy drink is disgusting !! the makers really need to go over their recipe!
EWWWW!!
The BEST of the energy Drinks ..now withdrawn from the market. its a bit of a bugger, I think if they had persisted the Taste would have won the day for this very effective energy drink. not even Coca-Cola was a hit straight away, It takes some persistence .. perhaps if the right people had simply had a drink of their very excellent product, they could have persisted..
the drinks crap!
withdrawn because it was rubbish, enough said.
