Monster X-presso Hammer? Yes, I know. Yet another Monster?  How can one company have so many different energy drinks and each one be totally unique?

Monster was one of the first major energy drinks and  became very successful. Then they were one of the first to create a Java energy, another success, yet can they strike gold again with a energized, nitrous oxide infused espresso?

Appearance/Image

Monster Hammer has kept up the classic look that Monster has portrayed throughout all their cans.  Hammer comes in a 6.75oz can with a dark wood grain background and their signature M ripping through.  Also, the font covering the can only adds to the uniqueness of Monster cans.  Truly one of the better looking cans out there.

Overall appearance: A

Taste

Popping the top instantly gave me that classic espresso aroma.  Taking the first sip, one thing leaped out at me and that was how SMOOOOTH this drink was.  I found it very creamy, with a hint of chocolate in the aftertaste.   There’s a number of java/espresso based energy drink on the market, some good and some tasting and resembling puddle water, yet  Monster Hammer truly gives you a coffeehouse quality espresso in a can.

Overall taste: A-

Effect

With the drink being so smooth and tasty, I found the can empty before I knew it and without any effects.  Yet shortly after, I got the boost I had hoped for. This drink offers the same energy blend as Java Monster so the caffeine content should be comparable.  Not sure if it will provide the boost to get you out of bed in the morning, yet when your crashing at work during your post-lunch break, Monster X-presso Hammer will provide the kick to get you to the finish line.

Overall effect: B+

Verdict

I went into this review with high hopes and high expectations.  Monster never let me down before and with Hammer they only kept up their reputation. This is one of the better drinks I’ve had in a long time, and will definitely be reaching into the fridge to get more in the future and look forward to the future varieties of Monster X-presso.

These sell for 50 cents at the DollarTree. Taste great and good deal.

I remember finding a few cans in my fridge a month or so ago, and it was amazing when I tried it. Very smooth, very creamy and had an amazing flavor. As Q said, my mom (who bought them) got them for 50 cents at the Dollar Tree. What really made my day was to see cases upon cases of them at the store, and I got a case (24 cans) for about $13.50,which was pretty sweet.

Would totally recommend it for coffee/espresso lovers.

Hello I can not find anymore of theses drinks anywhere within a 40 mile radius. I love this drink and have told so many people about it. There is none left on the shelves…. Hook me up ….

It’s been hit or miss for me on finding these lil coffee drinks. I’ve found them at Big Lots and Dollar Tree over the last few months. When ever I find them I buy a couple of cases at least, because they are only .50 per can. The last time I saw them was about 2 weeks ago at a Big Lots in Wheat Ridge Colorado.

I wonder if Monster is closing these drinks out because they’ve distributed them to the discount stores. Also, I noticed that they were canned in 2009.

btw… I just opened one and it was rancid… very disgusting… but i opened another one that was just fine. :-)

    good luck in your search…

  • Hi Barby, they are probably just at big lots because of the expiration date and I guess the rancid one proves that… gross :-(

Yes it must be clearance, I noticed on the Monster website that there is a new can for the Hammer drink and there are 40 more calories too. Haven’t seen it in stores.

Yeah Q, I was gonna mention that haha. Now I got 10 in the fridge!

my boyfriend was totally excited to find these at the dollar store. he first checked to make sure they were real, bought two, and then after drinking those, went back to the dollar tree and bought another 6 (he said he cleared the shelf.) i dont really prefer monster energy drinks because i like to check the caffeine content and for some reason monster doesn’t tell you what the mg of caffeine is. the ones we got have a slightly weird after taste to them.. but i think it does have a good kick to it for the tiny little can. we’ve also been looking everywhere for the old rockstar juiced gauva energy drinks with (i think but not sure) have 80% juice. now they make them with only like 10% juice and my boyfriend hates them. we found one website with only 10 available so that’s the next drink on our list to get!
