Monster M80: Why Another Energy Juice?

Monster M80 has hit the stores. It’s an “energy juice”. But wait – don’t we already have Monster Khaos?

There are some differences between the two drinks.

It goes like this:

Monster M80

  • 80% juice
  • Apple, Passionfruit, Pineapple concentrates + Guava Puree
  • Sweetened with: Glucose and Sucralose (Splenda)

Monster Khaos

  • 70% juice
  • Apple, Orange, Pear, Peach, Tangerine, Pineapple, White Grape Juice concentrates
  • Sweetened with: Glucose and Acesulfame Potassium (Ace-k)

What about the caffeine? This is where it gets tricky. All Monster drinks have caffeine levels concealed within a “Proprietary Blend” – which means we cannot be sure.

The people at EnergyThis are stocking M80 (cases of 24), buy them here.

I tried M80 a little over a month ago because im a huge fan of Khaos, Let me tell you in my opinion and my co workers opinion M80 is not a good flavor mix, unlike Khaos that happens to be my favorite juice energy drink. M80 leaves a bad after taste in the mouth and leaves you feeling more sick then energized. I love the Monster company between Khaos and The Java Monster as well as Lo Carb they make amazing drinks but M80 i will never buy you again.

    Just one mans thought.

I, on the other hand, would drinnk an M-80 over a Khaos any day. M-80 is the ass-kicking, drugged-out stepson of Monster drinks.

I think you might even be able to huff it; try it some time.

I’m pretty sure that my attachment to it is psycological and has very little basis in reality, but I really like the M-80.

I prefer Joker Juiced or Rumba when I want a juice ED. I also enjoy the Rockstar juice drinks.

  • It amazes me how you all break it down plain and simple for us (the average energy drinker)…

    Keep up the good work!

My opinion on the question “Why another energy juice?” is because it taste better than chaos…but ive only had 2 m-80′s and they both tasted COMPLETELY different…one tasted like a monster-esque blend of bad (to me that goes without saying if it says monster)and the other tasted like pineapple juice with almost no “generic energy drink taste”

I love M80! But then again, I like all the Monster drinks, including the coffee ones. But like the article says, Khaos is more o.j. like (no pun intended) with70% juice and M80 is more tropical with 80% juice. I have a question…where does the Monster Java drinks go as in a category? I have been to most gas stations with it next to Monster Energy, and one gas station has it sitting with Starbucks Frappacinos.

M-80 is a great drink in my opinion, it’s been out for quite some time though. I couldn’t believe it was sweetened with splenda though.

this stuff has been around for ages!
i tried it about a half a year ago, and again recently.
Its really just too sweet, and you can taste the splenda. I wouldent recomend it to a normal Monster conasuer, its the only product they make that i dont care for.

This stuff has been out forever. I think they found a few cans in King Tut’s tomb. It just wasn’t in a lot of stores, and wasn’t promoted much by the Monster people

i enjoy m-80 over khaos because it does seem to have a lower sugar level than the other. as a diabetic, its one of my guilty pleasures ,taken in moderation , of course.it also tastes better than khaos, but not as good as assault. for all you Khaos drinkers out there.. move over, M-80 is about to explode on your @$!% =P

  • Jess

JW, there was no pun in your comment, intended or otherwise. Just FYI.

I tried this the other day. The first few sips are good, but unfortunately it gets old really fast and after having nearly half the can I wanted to throw it away, but couldn’t bring myself to do it, so I held onto it a bit longer. It seemed to get warm faster than most drinks, and it’s really bad warm, so I ended up throwing it away. It’d probably be better if it had less fruit juice in it.

  • Well, I tried this a few months ago and absolutely loved it. If you don’t like tropical fruits, you might not like it. Tropical fruit flavors are not for everyone, because it takes a refined palate to appreciate their nuances, whereas everyone and their mom in the U.S. already know and like orange juice (the main flavor of Khaos).

Personally, I would rather drink an energy drink made with fruit juice than plain ol’ water and sugar/corn syrup. I love the comment of “videoCWK”:

“It’d probably be better if it had less fruit juice in it.”

That just makes me laugh. Oh well, to each his own. For me, I love M-80 and hope it outsells Khaos (although I like them both).

  • Tom B

To be honest, I love monster drinks. Im a big fan of them, but the m-80 (havent had a khaos) REALLY gave me a bad ache. It didnt give me a kick really, it just made me feel queezy and sick to my stomache, even after like 10 sips. Idk if its just be, but im not drinking anymore monster juices >_

  • Personally, not a fan. Love Khaos and Juiced Guava, but myself and a friend agreed it tasted like piss. Not the Red Bull “icky sweet but bleh” piss, but more of a bitter, unsatisfying, “wow this could actually be piss” piss. Of course that’s just my palate, as Jason said, “it takes a refined palate to appreciate their nuances”…and I eat Chef Boyardee out of a can, for Pete’s sake. I’m sure those who enjoy tropical fruit would enjoy this more, so I think they may be shooting a bit low marketing the “M-80.”

  • JC

Monster M-80 is amazing, definitly the greatest energy drink I have ever tasted, Khaos is pretty good. The ony downside to M-80 is that they don’t sell it in the giant cans :)

  • Dan

Unquestionably the best energy drink is the one named Monster M-80

  • BBTDB

FYI here’s the “medicinal ingredients” as reported to CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) by the manufacturer (Pepsi):
    2-aminoethylsulfonic acid (Taurine)(synthetic) 2000mg,
    ginseng (panax ginseng)(root)(2% ginsenosides)400mg, Caffeine (synthtetic) 164mg, Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) 40mg, d-glucuronolactone (synthetic) 10mg, guarana (paullinia cupana)(seed)(22% caffeine) 10mg, inositol (synthetic) 10mg, Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine HCI) 4mg, Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) 3.4mg, Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) 12mcg.

I posted this only because the article mentions the proprietary blend, and here in Canada, companies are not allowed to hide behind that description. That’s for the M-80 by the way. I’m not sure if it varies among their different varieties as M-80 is the only one I drink. I absolutely love it’s sweet-sugary-without-sticky-feeling taste that you can’t get without sucralose (Splenda).

  • Chris

    Khaos and Mean Bean forever!!

  • emac1567

I like M80 way more then khoas. In my opinio khoas sucks, I don’t like the taste of it.
