New Monster Absolutely Zero
In a world where it seems every new energy drink that comes out is a copy of another and where the market seems to be watered down by generic garbage drinks, the leader and grandfather of the energy scene “Monster” continues to create fresh drinks to continue to stay on top and ahead of the market.
Monster’s newest drink is Absolutely Zero, apparently a improved version of their Lo-Carb, with the Zero proclaiming NO SUGAR and NO CALORIES. Really, no sugar? Is it even an energy drink?
Taste
Excited to get this new Monster on my taste buds, I pop the can open and begin to throw it back. Hmmmm, I’ve tasted this taste before…… Yes, that’s it! Monster Lo-Carb!! With the zero edition having less sugar, less carbs and less calories, the taste seems to be almost identical. If you’re a diehard, Lo-Carb freak, then you may taste a bit of a difference, but for the masses, the taste of the new Monster Absolutely Zero will be a mirror image of the Monster Lo-Carb, so take that for what its worth…
Ingredients
Many of the ingredients are the nearly the same as Lo-Carb with a few differences besides the lower calories and sugar mentioned earlier. They promote a retooled 2800 mg of energy blend (consisting Taurine, Panax Ginseng, L- Carnitine, Glucuronolactone, Inositol, Guarana and Maltodextrin), a new sweetener system (ace k and Erythritoll), and a new flavor.
Update: We Just heard from the folks at Monster and Absolutely Zero has 135mg of Caffeine per 16oz can.
Effect
The effect from Monster Absolutely Zero was pretty much inline with the rest of the Monster family. Within about 10 minutes of consumption, I got the nice boost/jolt I was looking for and expecting. A new difference was no real jittery feeling sometimes received from the other Monsters (assuming because of the 0 sugar) and even though I never really felt a big crash from the others, Absolutely Zero had a nice slow fade still leaving me feeling good after with no effects.
Verdict
I think this verdict is one of the easiest I’ve had to write. If you’re a fan of Monster Lo- Carb, then you will be a fan of its newly improved twin Monster Absolutely Zero. If diet energy drinks don’t feed your need or treat your taste buds, then you may want to feed that need with something else and just sit back until Monster’s next gift to the energy drink scene.

I disagree. The taste of monster absolute zero is different from lo-carb. I think its better than lo-carb.
I agree with effect, no crash as lo-carb or monster regular. my new favorite.
Absolutely love Absolutely Zero. Also, it is a great alternative for people with Diabetes who avoid sugar and carbs.1 carb is awesome.
I’m on Atkin’s and finding a energy drink that didn’t derail the Atkin’s plan was almost impossible. Now, with the Absolutely Zero Monster, I can get my kick and stay honest on my diet. “Absolutely” love the flavor with this one as well; The Green Monster is way too strong for my liking. Thanks a million to MONSTER!!!!
Taste testing Lo-Carb and Absolutely Zero side by side. The Lo-Carb does seem a bit more syrupy and sweet by comparison – but the difference is subtle to say the least. I’m usually a Diet Rockstar drinker but will be glad to take a Monster Absolutely Zero now and then. Will be interesting to see if Costco gets them in the case packs, too…
Its awesome i love it! No calories, no carbs, no sugar! Winning!!
I’ve always loved the Lo-Bo, only energy drink I will really touch, others taste like acid to me.
Went to local convenience store and they were out of the Lo-bo, so i thought I’d give the new Absolutely Zero a try.
I’ve drank lots of the Lo-bo, early school days, finals, gaming all night, and know and love the taste and this is pretty darn close to the real thing.
Doesn’t have that strong acidy flavor you get with most energy drinks, great taste and gets the job done.
Highly recommend it.
IT is a life saver. I could not hold my head up and now I am awake and can go another 10hrs, Wow!!
I’m actually against most energy drinks, for marketing reasons and the fact that they aren’t too healthy for you, BUT, I do happen to really enjoy Monster Zero.
It’s not overly sweet and tastes GREAT. it also has no crash side effects for me after the effects start to dim.
And the can is also nicely colored, for some reason i find it more attractive than other brands.
I give it a 9/10.
I have to diagree with you on the taste compared to lo carb. As much as I loved lo carb, I had an aftertaste and some reflux with it. Whatever they’ve done with this formula has eliminated that completely. I can’t get enough of this stuff.
