Nitrous Monster: Super Dry Energy Drink
As if Monster wasn’t already charging ahead fast enough, they’ve gone ahead and bolted a tank of nitrous in their trunk.
I’m referring to the newest Monster trim: Nitrous. Once Monster hits that red button and fully infiltrates the market with this drink, the extra horsepower is going to violently slam them to the front of the pack.
Here I offer a review of one of the three flavors I’ve seen of Monster Nitrous: Super Dry. In the lustfully exciting world of aftermarket car tuning, a nitrous tank is one of the most extreme additions one can buy. A good shot of nitrous can temporarily give horsepower boosts in the triple digits. The best type of nitrous is “dry” as opposed to “wet”, hence the name of this flavor.
Taste
When you first try this drink, I challenge you to concentrate on the flavor. It’s not easy, considering that you’re going to be perplexed by the experience, which is unlike any other on the market.
Have you ever put something in your mouth that fizzes? Fizz candies, soda pop candies? Alka Seltzer? Oh you did? You know you’re supposed to dissolve the Alka Selzter first, right? Well anywho, this is all I have to equate the Monster Nitrous experience to. It’s a very open, airy, and expansive carbonated beverage effect that you just have to try for yourself.
Once you get past the bubbly, it’s evident that Monster went back to the drawing board. All evidence of the basic Monster taste has been dissolved away by the carbonated and nitrogenated water, and what’s left is a delicious citrus taste with a berry hint. It’s a winner!
Ingredients
Unscrew the cap from the sweet new can and within lies a 200% DV of Vitamins B2, 3, 6, and 12 along with 2,000mg of Taurine. Caffeine? Rudely buried alongside guarana in what’s known as a bullshi.. err proprietary blend. Monster, grow up and disclose the content already, you’re above this.
Leading the ingredients list is “carbonated and nitrogenated water”. The word nitrogenated tells us nothing about how many nitrogen and oxygen molecules we’re dealing with in the bond, which is everything considering their claims.
Effect:
If Monster normally gets you moving, so will Monster Nitrous. To my disappointment, don’t expect much more than that. In the one time I had this drink, I noticed no difference in effect from a 16oz can. Oh, FYI the Nitrous can holds 12 ounces.
Verdict
Aside the clever marketing trickery, the new Monster Nitrous energy drinks deliver a stellar experience that will place them in a Top 20 list of almost every energy drink consumer. I just wish we had more information about how legit their claims of nitrous oxide injection are.

KOOL
So I was in a Tom Thumb this morning to get a Monster because I was dead tired and unprepared for my school day. I found Monster Nitrous Super Dry and wasn’t paying attention enough to know if there were others because I saw the word Nitrous and was shocked. I show it to a friend who grabbed it, and when he gave it back, it’s top blew off only to be held by the plastic. So it’s definitely more carbonated, and it tasted ok. Kind of like Goody’s powder, but a little better. Definitely going to try the other flavors, and try to discover the actual amount of Nitrous Oxide.
Just to let you all know if you compare the regular monster can to this one, they are EXACTLY the same in the ingredients and amounts. Its just another one of those monster drinks they try and make look more potent but yet has the same exact ingredients in it. The regular monster has 2 servings, this has 1 with double the ingredients. Monster may fool everyone else but I acually look at whats in a energy drink before i buy it if ive never tried it before.
Banning energy drinks to people under 18 is a great idea — if you want to make energy drinks wildly popular among teens and send consumption through the roof!
im drinkin super dry right now and lovin the limey flavor but killer b wuz awful like old beer
Tried the yellow/orange-ish colored can, think it was killer-b… tasted like crap.. Superdry however is one of my new favorites. For holding only 12 oz. compared to a 16 oz. can of regular monster, or any other drink I`ve tried, it gives me more of a boost than most. Still not happy about the price, but did find a 2 for $3 deal (kick ass) but otherwise, kinda pricey. Don`t know about all you cry-babies out there all worried if Nitrous really is in your drink, but I do know what I feel off this can is like crack compared to other drinks I can`t get a buzz from anymore. Nitrous, or just some new additive, either way, Superdry is A+ in my book. Tastes decent as far as energy drinks go, and gives you that kick in the ass you`re looking for.
The flavor strongly resembles tangerine, rather than lime. There may be a little lime in the flavor, but the tangerine over powers it. In my opinion super dry is probably the best flavor of the 3 nitrous drinks.
you stated in the third paragraph that a dry shot of nitrous oxide was better in a tuned car than a wet shot, that is totally not true…
a dry shot means no fuel has been added so the shot cannot exceed the amount of fuel already available to the engine, where as a wet shot has its own fuel pump and separate injection system so the shot can be increased infinitely. It also helps regulate the air fuel mixture where as a dry shot usually go somewhat lean and causes stress on the engine due to excessive heat, not saying the additional hp of a wet shot doesnt stress the engine..
I tried Monster Nitrous “Anti Gravity” about an hour ago and… I must say I am almost worried for my health! I have so much energy I feel sick. The walls are spinning, and I dont know what to do! I would seriously think twice about having this drink again. Im having trouble even writing this review for shit sake! CAUTION: USE AT OWN RISK!!!
I have tried all 3 flavors…..Super Dry is my least favorite…I am partial to the Killer B. I guess in other states than California, it’s called Killer Buzz. I get them for two for 3 bux at my local c-store. I guess I have consumed so many energy drinks in the last 5 or 6 years that I have noticed no additional effect from the so-called Nitro Boost these drink claim to have, but then again, I continue to buy them. I am consuming an Anti-Gravity as I type this. I like the flavors, and the Pop-Rocks-like effect it has on my tongue. I think they should be less concentrated and packaged in 16 or 20 oz cans….to match the rest of the Monster line.
@Biggity Bob, That’s because there isn’t a Nitro boost. NOS has no energy enhancing effect on humans it only works in cars etc., but it’s the placebo effect really. If people think it will give them a boost, it probably will in some people.. Clever Monster marketing…
Super Dry definitely tastes good as a sub for ginger ale in many drinks.
Can this kill me? Now I’m scared!!!!!
I love love love this drink! I just wish every store had thie nitrus drink! They only sell the nitrus monster at 7~11 but also the monster DUB edition is pretty good! it doesn’t taste like an energy drink at all. Oh ya and one more …. the import is pretty good 2!
I had three of these bad buys (one of each flavor) this past Saturday while at the Monster Supercross in Jax… I also had one of the Low Carb Monster prior to ingesting the 3 nitrous drinks. I really liked the taste of all 3 and recommend adhering to the limit 3 cans per day recommendation on the back of the can!!!
why don’t they make this available in larger cans.
do not listen to Tim people who have not tried killer-b. killer-B taste like lemonade, & i did not really smell it, so idk about smell. Acually, i say killer-B is perfect when you want lemonade with a kick on a hot summer day, at the beach, or by the pool. its kick ass, and its my second favorite flavor of monster with original as my #1 (can’t beat it!)
this contains nitrous oxide but only mentions this very discreetly because its a dangerous drug but it is awesome from wiki it says : Nitrous oxide (N2O) is a dissociative drug that can cause analgesia, depersonalization, realization, dizziness, euphoria, and some sound distortion.[22] Research has also found that it increases suggestibility and imagination.[23] Inhalation of nitrous oxide for recreational use, with the purpose to cause euphoria and slight hallucinations, began as a phenomenon for the British upper class in 1799, known as “laughing gas parties” they also say : In the United States, possession of nitrous oxide is legal under federal law and is not subject to DEA purview.[69] It is, however, regulated by the Food and Drug Administration under the Food Drug and Cosmetics Act; prosecution is possible under its “misbranding” clauses, prohibiting the sale or distribution of nitrous oxide for the purpose of human consumption.
i would say to get this before it is banned because when i drank it it was like i was tripping hardcore and i felt high. im not sure if its legal in California but this is what wiki also says :In the state of California, possession for recreational use is prohibited and qualifies as a misdemeanor so stock up before the government ruins everything … again
“Carbonated (C0₂) and nitrogenated (N2₂) water”;
first ingredient listed under “Non-medical ingredients per 340 mL:”
