171 Starbucks in 24 Hours

Mark Malkoff attempted to visit all Starbucks stores in Manhattan inside 24 hours.

Here are the statistics:

  • made 18 bathroom stops
  • spent $369.14 – including an $80 bribe for a single piece of pound cake
  • bought at least 50 caffeinated drinks
  • 27 pieces of biscotti
  • 24 bottles of water
  • 12 cookies
  • 1 Asian sesame pasta dish.

In his self-made video he says that he had to consume “at least part of the product”. So the 50 caffeinated drinks doesn’t tell us much. However, if he consumed say 40mg in each drink… then that’s a total of 2,000mg.

Mark made an entertaining video of the experience. At one point in the video he mentions having 8 espresso shots in 3 hours. At the 14th hour he reports “tingling” (classic sign of over-caffeination). He manages to complete his task in 20 hours.

What’s amazing about this, is not that someone was crazy enough to try such a feat – but the fact there are actually 171 Starbucks outlets packed into 23 square miles.

How wasteful. Starbucks is a pretty evil corporation anyway. They treat their coffee growers like shit.

Starbucks don’t treat their coffee growers like shit, well they did in the 90’s now they are one of the leading coffee companies who support their coffee growers
